Is there a Fuse or Fusible link in a 1985 40hp Johnson?

Model J40TLERE

Sn# G03532642

If so, where's it hiding?

Yes! I may have seen that, but didn't recognize it. Thanks. I'll dig around, on the starboard side, by the terminal block. I bet it's hiding under some "spaghetti".

Thanks again Commander. What a great place this is. Wish I could contribute more. So far I've just been on the receiving end.

Keep hanging around and someone will have a problem that you have already solved, and you will be able to help them the way others helped you.
Every one here is a great source of information and has a lot to contribute.

Thanks to You, and the Forum, it took a whole 45 seconds to find the fuse! Sweet!

Thanks.

Any idea what color the fuse wire is? My wiring diagram doesn't show a fuse in the system.

retiredfornow, are you working on the exact same engine as Snowfish? If so click on the link in post #2. Otherwise if you would start a new post with your model number I am sure someone will help you.

Not sure what the wire color is. Didn't look. But if it's the same motor the fuse is in the front of the powerhead just port of the plugs. It looks like a connector, but isn't. Sealed up pretty good, but really easy to get to. Just pull the cover, look down to the left (port side) by the plugs and disconnect the first connector that you find. Bet there's a 20amp fuse in there.
