Reading online I have the hydraulic reverse lock plate assembly like you had said.

And I have the transom mount. Normally if you have transom mount just swap it out it says, unless you have reverse lock assembly.

But since I have the reverse lock assembly it says to read your instructions that came with the new plate assembly. It doesn’t mention anything about where or how to relocste or mount anything.

can I move this reverse lock assembly anywhere? Or does it have a mechanical connection to something in the origional plate?

Also says I may need a new pump that has the reverse lock assembly built in?

Yeah, ok, I see the problem. The new lever faces the other way to the old one.

You can't use the new plate without the reverse lock valve, and you can't transfer the reverse lock valve. You can move the lever across, but then there's nowhere to mount the new switch... But that may be the only option. That or replace the trim pump $$$...

It should be possible to mount the new lever onto the old plate, facing the correct way, and put in a couple of posts for the lever spring to operate against. You should be able to get those measurements from the spring stops on the new plate. Then drill 2 holes for the new switch on the right place, again from the measurements from the new plate. Yes, it's a bit of work, but it's better than the alternative.

Geese, talk about road block. I thought this weekend would be start up, or attempt to start up time. what do you think about the new arm I layed out next to existing one. Will this spot work for the new arm?
It would mount there easily, only issue is the bolt has a wide spacer sleeve going through arm then a thinner thread. it is to short to mount arm here to the bracket below. If I just used a longer bolt and made a spacer will that be ok?

So if that works I'd leave the reverse lock where it is. And I would just have to do a layout wherever the switch will fit and relocate the posts on the old plate? Only problem for me here is I don't really know how sensitive these post locations are how much tension needed etc. So I'll play with them some and see if I can come up with a layout. I'd also have to add the stops on each side for the tension wires.

I wish I could just find a cheap pump .

Think I found a pump for around 400 new. Place
in Florida, Sei. I think I need pump 93247A7.

on live chat they pulled up pump for me when I have them 93247A7 but on the image I can’t see part numbers etc. I called for a rep but they were closed.

I need to know if this unit has the reverse lock valve internally so I can scrap mine. I know on the merc 93247A7 it is internal, but need to verify this is the same unit, and not just one that works but may be slightly different.

They have it listed on their site as 9C-108SS alpha one trim pump 1972-90 OE 865380A25. I would like to order it but need the verification about the reverse lock. Tried to post link but it deletes most of it.

if it's the same, you should be fine with it.

Made a wood mock up plate for new switch plate. Do I use the new return shock like piece or use origional?

If i use new one do i just cut off the end shock part of existing.

That is a 'shift assister'. It's better not to use it. Just open it up and remove the springs. I think you need it to allow the cables to fit properly.

So take out spring and use the new part?
there is quite a bit of thread left before the old shock if I cut it off.

Chris....

Ayuh,..... Only time I found one, on a 3.0l/ Alpha 1, I took it off, 'n put the cables back onto the shift plate,.....

Didn't have to take it apart,...... still got it bouncin' 'round, somewhere, in a box or pail,.....

So roll with the origional? I’ve never messed with any of this stuff before.

it seems like everything mated up good either way. Other than if I use the new one, I would have to cut the old end.

if I keep origional them in theory I should let screw it up lol.

On the right I’ll have to drill out the plastic arm some to fit over the post. This post is slightly bigger.

and on the left, kind of hard to see in picture. Should I just Set the black plastic piece on top of the arm with a shaft. This plastic piece won’t fit into the end of arm slot that was meant for the new shock. . The origional just had a peg post looking up and the plastic piece just set on.

ill get a better pic.

Reaming that cable end is ok, but you'll need a spacer on the post too (to 'replace' the shift assister)...
