Im thinking about buying an 88 bayliner outboard and was wondering what the cost is approximately of a coil pack.

It has a force 50 hp,and they said his dad works at a marine shop.He said its #1 coil pack..

Anyone have a ball park figure on cost on this, and where to get one?

Thanks,
mick

Make sure it's the coil. They don't go bad very often.
More likely(possibly)? The connections could be bad.
They break under the shrink wrap and you can't tell without testing.
Just saying test before you buy.

Re: 50hp force coil packs

Im having the same issue with my 1986 50 hp.
They were hard to find, Mercury dealers sell them, but only SOME.
There is a boat junkyard about 25 miles from me, they have everything you could imagine for these forces.

If you want to try to call them, ask for the owner/manager...tell him what you need and ask if they could ship it.
if not, i would be willing to go there for you and get them and ship them to you.
(I could always take a trip to boat heaven)
PM me if you need me to,

The name of the place is: BUDGET BOATS PHONE# (757)543-7595
Located in Chesapeake Virginia

i got lucky and found a set of 2 of them someone was parting out a '87 model.
I paid $22.50 plus $10 shipping.
BUT... they were for a 87, mines a 86 model. They look the same so im hoping they work.
If they wont work for me. Your welcome to buy them for what i paid. (If they will work for yours that is)

One unhappy Force owner to another, just a helping hand :joyous:

EVERY Mercury dealer sells them.
They are in their Mercury parts network.
They can get them in their regular weekly parts order.

Don't let them treat you poorly because you own a Force, or they can't figure out how to look up the parts.

(One unhappy Force owner to another, just a helping hand) Lots of happy Force/Chrysler owners out there.
If it's that much of a problem?? Sell it and buy a different used motor. See if the problems go away??
The simplicity of the F/C is that even the mechanically challenged can usually fix them.
The parts are EVERYWHERE!!! Nothing's gonna be cheap or free.A fuel pump for a Mercury can be as much as $525
Try fixing the Yamahas and newer ones and you'll appreciate the F/C

THat could be what it is.... whats actually what it seems. Every dealer talks to you like you own a dinosour and if you want help you better buy one of their brand new motors. lol
I dont know about the dealers near yall. but the ones here in virginia Su*k!

And BTW, I am a unhappy FORCE owner because im not on the water yet with it!.
I love how simple these engines are, ive had newer yamahas etc. they are very pricey...
The parts for C/F seem very easy to get, unless you have a 85-86.???? IDK why...
