Thanks for reading my post. I need some advice.
A year ago, I replaced all of the seals in my lower unit and filled it with 90W "Hypoid" oil. The oil leaked back out and was getting water in it. I spent my summer keeping it full and changing it often.
This summer, I decided to take it in and have someone with more experience work on it so I didn't have to worry about it. He pressure tested it, both low and high held for 30 minutes (not sure what that means, but it is what he wrote on the repair ticket). I had run out of the 90W oil and was using some synthetic lower unit oil I had sitting around rather than buying more 90W. He drained it and replaced it with 90W, making it wound like that is why it was leaking, charged me $80 and said it should be fine, but if it wasn't I should put Lubriplate 105 in the lower unit. It's still leaking oil out and I assume if oil can get out, water can get in.
My question, is it normal or acceptable to put the Lubriplate 105 in the lower unit? Will it still get water in the lower unit?
Thanks!
