Your not trying to start this without the flywheel torqued on are you? (I had to ask.)

86 the starting fluid... but if you didn't get anything with the starting fluid you're likely not getting spark at all.

Do you have a multimeter?

ditto on the multi meter, something is odd with this one, and the coils need checking. ( a compression test would also tell if the motor is worth spending any money on)

Wait a minute... you really need to check compression first. You could be wasting your time on a motor that may NEVER run without some expensive repairs. Please check compression before you proceed any further.

So if you check the coils and they are ok... I'd go ahead and replace the condensers (you can get these at NAPA) and also replace the plug wires. Try to get the wire from your Evinrude dealer... they sell it by the foot. Remember to screw the wires on the prong coming off of the coil, don't just shove them on there.

( If you have no dealer near you do NOT try to use automotive plug wires they will not work- I found some metal core wires at Tractor Supply - for old tractors - pretty cheap.)

If you have not replaced the points and condenser yet would try it, some motors are more pickey than others but condensers failing will cause a lack of spark.

well.. i dont think 65psi on top and 65 on bottom are gonna do me any good..

what causes compression issues?

65 and 65 arent great, but the motor still should run. and if you get it running those numbers should improve. how did things go with the coil testing?

i swear i tested the coils like the guy on youtube did.. had good continuity all the way to the end of the plug wires... ill test em again tonight and see..

fuel mix needle.. when i took the carb apart to clean it .. the mix needle was barely screwed in.. whats the rule of thumb to reset that needle to proper mixture..?

confirmed again.. coils are good and wires are good.. getting proper readings..

will condensers make it not fire?

condensers ordered.. more of the waiting game..

yes, the waiting game drives most of us mad, and yes the condensers will stop you from running ............

and 65 pounds for compression is doable , mine is at 90 per cylinder, at some point, try a head gasket. it might be all you really need
