Deck is in, now I just need to glass the top surface. I temporarily rattle canned a section of the bowin myproposedcolor scheme to get the wife's approval, and I am sending a few parts to the chromer for refinishing. after glassing the deck, it's on to installing a new transom.

I like your proposed color scheme.

Hey this is interesting....I apparently have the same brand trailer as you. Same construction, same bow stop, and same weird toothpaste color underneath some other paint. I guess they were original to our boats!

Hey, looks like it is going good. How are you going to finish the deck after you glass it? (Paint, Bedliner, Carpet) Did you use any pour in foam under the deck?

Me too have the same trailer for my Starcraft 18 :) : easy to lunch and retrieve without any type of guide-on. Really nice trailer for that boat.

How much do you think the chroming will cost you & will they take care of the pitting?

Badger metal refinishing quoted $180 and they will take care of surface prep and return shipping.

No pour in foam, just the pink block foam, if it was good enough for the first 41 years, it is good enough for me. I am planning on using Durabak to finish the deck, I was thinking of the vinyl NB used, but I am adding thickening plates under the pedastel seats and couldn't make the vinyl conform easily (better for a flat deck)

Nice Bow light! I like the fins look, and the flag holder is a nice plus.

I have a question, what did you guys use to fill the joint between plywood pc on the deck, I am planning on using durabak, would 5200 work, or would there be a bonding problem with the durabak? Maybe bondo glass with cut fobers? or would that cause a problem with the epoxy resin I used to seal the deck? I am trying to avoid laying glass mat or cloth.

Oh..Ok..Now I get your question on my thread...
I just butted them together as tight as possible..To see it done right, take a look at North Beach's resto when he did his deck and I remember him sealing w/resin I believe...

You Will Need One Can Per Side  I wanted something lighter than the black, and found this at Wally World too. They also have it in tan.

The parts getting re-chromed. Are they chromed over brass? Could you please post pictures when they return?

Great thread. Thanks, Don.

Boats really looking good. I like how much attention to detail you put into it. The Stone spray is nice, very period correct and a nice replacement for spatter. Another I like is the Hammered Metal from Rustolium. I have it on a big vice in my workshop and it is very tough paint.

BTW, that is a GREAT price for the chroming. The labor to fill all those pits is extensive, so the price is especially good. If you can, see if you can work in the bow light too.

The choice of exterior colors is nice too. This is going to look great on the water.

Don,

The parts were/are chrome over pot metal or Zamac is what Perko calls it. Badger stated they are running about 3 weeks, I will post pics when they return. :D

The boat is coming along very nicely. Please post lots of pics since I'm mostly done and now have to live vicariously thru you folks:D

Just a word of caution on the arrow heads that go at each end of the lower rub rails on the sides. Your stuff comes back from the chromers a little thinner due to polishing-be careful not to over tighten those bolts. I snugged mine down real well and over night one of them caved on me:eek:
