<br /><br />Probably we need to talk about idle rpms a little for we go moving anything around.<br /><br />What are the rpms at idle in gear? We don't know if the engine is new to you so we need to find out what the engine is doing.<br /><br />That black knob at the engine on the throttle cable can be used to set to pull the throttle lever back against the idle stop....what you called "pin".<br /><br />But if you could give us some info on what the engine is doing or not doing would be great. I've notice that sometimes when an engine starts idling rough, folks will up the idle to make it smooth out. Not really the best thing to do cause the higher the idle, the worst beating the gears take when the engine is shifted into forward or reverse.<br /><br />So....if you could give us some info, we, the fine wrenches who habitate this forum, can better help.<br /><br />Thanks! .<br /><br />I have had this motor for 15 years and have only had to change the power pack. The engine has two problems:<br /><br />1. The motor will not go into gear. This is due to the switch in the control box being broken. Thanks to another post I was able to put the motor in and out of gear by disconnecting the green and blue wire. Reverse works as well. I am trying to find used controls as the part is $160. I read in another post a 3 way switch can be rigged up but am concerned about the saftey aspect of this solution.<br /><br />2. When I put the boat in neutral the throttle is not moving all the way back to the idle stop and is idling mutch to high. Unfortunatly I can not test the RPM's as my boat does not have an RPM gauge. I can manually move the throttle back to rest against the idle stop and the engine idles at what sounds like an appropriate rpm.<br /><br />Thanks for any advice!<br /><br />Fuser
