Hey sprintst,
I have been thinking about your dash. If you wrapped the dash with CSM and the covered with the Aluminum it would last forever properly sealed.
Just a thought to go with yours.

Big box of parts came in today in perfect shape. I'll drop it off tomorrow at the shop to be bolted on the engine after bench testing.

New water pump, thermostat housing, thermostat, all the hoses, head gasket, valve cover gaskets, exhaust manifold gaskets, trim sender kit, etc.

The transom replacement kit with bellows, gimbal bearing, hoses, gaskets, etc I will keep for now until I drop the baot off with replaced transom. So close now...

Seat boxes get built tomorrow as it`s a bit warmer...

sprintst,
New parts are always good.
Are you setting in the boat making engine noises yet?? :D:D
It looks like you are really getting close now.
Keep up the great work.

Closer at least :) I checked on the guys after I dropped off the parts. The leg is back together being checked on. The prop shaft was replaced as well as the impeller and housing in the leg so I'm good there.

They thought that they could getting away with just a hone but the cylinder walls were slightly worn so it needs to be done .030 over. More money of course but in theory it should be like new with the updated heads, etc.

I'll be watching the bill to see what the final total comes in at. Thinking of burning the building down :)

Cross seat boxes off the to do list. It was still below zero out there but I took a couple days off to escape from work.

As you can see the old boxes weren't in the best shape. Here's a couple of pics of the new boxes in 3/4 marine plywood. They as a little bit heavier but won't be falling apart or flexing. I'm going to coat them with epoxy before they go for upholstery...once I get my scissor hinges bolted in.

There is also a pic of the Piranha led submersible trailer lights that have been sitting in the garage.

Here's a couple of pics for the actual boxes. I wanted to get something done so I'm ready to use this thing whenever it actually warms up. The old boxes were 8" tall but I bumped these up to 10" boxes as that is what most other companies had online. It seems the dimensions for length and width as exactly the same as well compared to what is out there.

Next are either trying to frame the lounge seats and take them in to be covered or buy existing seats and match my upholstery up to that.

My stupid skill saw died as well. The jig saw did a better job cutting anyway. Time for a beer in front of the fireplace to thaw out.

Nice job on those boxes Sprintst.
I may just build my boxes a bit taller too for more visibility.

The extra couple inches couldn't hurt. My a** 8" off the deck seemed a little low to me. I probably wouldn't be able to see much until I came up to place with the low rider seats in there. Might eat a jet ski or something :)

I could actually use the space a storage as well as the scissor hinges don't eat up any space under there.

Hey sprintst,
The boxes look pretty good. I would want mine up higher too for the same reasons mentioned by you and Juniinc. Most of the time I always found my seats to be to low and would set one knee on the seat.
I can't believe your building those things outside. How cold is it there?
Stay warm.

-8 C You get used to it. On and off the gloves every two minutes to pickup a screw or bolt.

Makes me seem like a ***** for stopping working on it last fall. A firend in town is going to let me use his shop for any epoxy work that I need done. I'm coating all my side panels, seats boxes, etc in epoxy before upholstery.

Lets see it rot now :)

Looks good. Did you do a test sit on the higher boxes in the boat? My concern is that you'll end up sitting above the windshield or worse that the top of the shield will be right in your line of sight. I had 10" boxes in the Jupiter and I did sit above the windshield. I though it looked kinda lame. I ordered 8" pedestals for my SS.

I did do a test sit on the old seats and they felt a little low. I'll have the boat here on Thurs. and will drop in the new boxes and try them out with my existing ratty seats.

It will be easy to hack a couple inches off with a jigsaw but will be tough to add so I err'd on the tall side.

I'll do a bit more outside work today as it's melting now...D'oh. I could have waited a day or so more and been much warmer. The weatherman needs a punch in the mouth. They should have a North American "beat up your weatherman" day. No offence to any weathermen out there :) Not a real beating...just a small one.

I'll peel off the old vinyl off my interior parts and get them ready for epoxy and cutting speaker holes.

Don't feel to bad I couldn't do any work today it was to miserable and now the wonderful weatherman is calling for a foot of snow here starting in the AM

I am digging the reflector parts of the lights. Hopefully the led parts hold out. :)

See... If the snow shows then the weatherman did it.

I did get a bit done today. Here is the support by the back seats and doghouse area. I've got extra plywood as there are a couple of spots that look like dry rot is starting so I'm going to cut a fresh piece.

Check out the dates on the sheet. Nov 76

Hey Bob,

Your project is looking good. Just curious. I visited your photobucket link. What is the contraption on your woodworking album. I didn't see a description.

Also, on your stringer work, for what purpose is the jig/form using the slices if PVC pipe? Does it press the mat into the resin while it cures. If you described it in the this tread I may have overlooked it.

Last - thanks for the transom clamp idea. I'm rebuilding my 19' AMF Crestliner's transom now. It is curved and I was wondering how to ensure I get good contact between the glass of the hull and the plywood when I begin the lamimating process. Did you use poly resin or epoxy?

One last question. Is there a relationship between the number of posts you have made on iboats with your rank? If so, is that relationship posted somewhere on the forum?

Sorry about that Srintst - my earlier post was intended for another thread. Your Starcraft is looking good too. I did a similar restore back in 2002.

Attached is a photo. Notice the black windsheild frames. The project boat had a bad center panel. I replaced the panel with lexan. During the process my son suggested we paint the entire frame. I used Rustoleum's satin black for patio furniture and was pleased with the results - very durable.
