Troop, for sanding your hull, I'd recommend you buy yourself a "Long Board" for sanding. HF sells em and the paper too. A R/O sander works well on the gouges and scratches. I long boarded the hull first just to scuff and smooth the gelcoat.and then shot a light coat of Grey primer on it. This will really reveal all the imperfections. It's then easy to sand those areas and clean, fill and fair. I did all the long boarding with 80 grit. I did all the final sanding prior to the first heavy coat of primer with 150 grit. You don't go all the way to glass unless it's a deep gouge that requires resin and glass. If you're just gunna use filler no need. A great fairing filler for the hull is 1/2 pint of resin, tablespoon of cabosil and then glass bubbles until it's just a tad thicker than mayonaise. 1.5% MEKP and you're good to go. It will will well and sand like a dream.
Good Luck with the Flip. You could build a flip frame if you don't want to use the EYE!!!
