I have a 1978 Galaxy with the OMC 800 drive, 5.0 Chevy engine. Are there 2 different types of tilt motors? Seems that mine does not have a flange type on it and I can't feel and bolts around the motor. I can see the 2 small bolts on the end cap of the motor, are these the bolts that hold the motor on?

Thanks

Sounds like you have the electric shift? If so you have a '77 outdrive or some one has converted it to the later hydro mechanical or full mechanical.

If your tilt motor has the thru bolts, that is what you have to stick with. Be advised that when you remove the bolts, the endplates will try to disengage from the motor body, so hold it all together as you remove it.

Thanks a bunch. It seems that the 78's could go either direction on the parts. I just rebuilt the tilt clutch and it was different than the Clymer book showed. Thanks again.

Clymer book. Oh I thought we were talking reality.
