Howdy,
I was on the lake the other day, and noticed that when I went to max throttle, the engine started getting rough, then soon after (20-40 seconds) the overheat alarm went off. When I took the cowling off to let the engine cool off, I noticed some oil in the bottom of the engine compartment. I've attached pictures:
If you look straight underneath the starter and to the right, there's even a little puddle of oil. What concerned me most is that it looks like there's metal flakes in the oil. I was told the engine had been bored a couple of years ago, so I'm hoping those metal flakes might have come from residue left in the bottom of the compartment from that.
This isn't normal is it? I'm pretty sure (90%) the fuel/oil mix was correct, if that matters. I'm only a little mechanically inclined, so I'm writing to see if this is a problem, and if it is, is it a simple fix
, or should I take it to the mechanic
?
