I remember you saying that now. It really is much nicer now.

Ok, here is the latest. I just cannot be without a project. I am talking to a guy about a 1988 Yammy wave runnner. I have seen and heard it run on the water, but it is VERY ugly. No glass damage but everything needs freshening to make it presentable in public. Here is the problem... NOT TITLE! He is only asking $350.00 for the thing, but I do not know about getting a title and how hard that will be. Anyone from Texas know? I am also talking to a guy in Ponder about an O/B 18Ft Glastron Carlson. I have seen pictures, but not is person. I want to see if this Wave Runner Pans out.

frisco go to the texas parks and wildlife with the hull number and they can look up the last owner of record. then you have to send a certified letter to the address explaining you intent to purchase. if you get a response you may be out of luck. no response or a rejection means that you can go apply for lost title. do the process before you buy.

Hey frisco,
The video turned out really nice. It also looked like you were pretty happy with the performance too.
You son looked like he was enjoying the boat to.
Great job.
Take Care.

Nice work and videos as usual, I called and can get Durabak shipped to Cananda so I'll definately be going with smooth over rough.

Were you able to close the can up and go back for the second coat without it turning to cement on the rough coats? Not sure how much time passed between coats.

Jay, you have done an outstanding job on your boat. I have always liked the lines on the Glastrons. In high school, I had a '76 GT-150 (James Bond) with a 115 Johnson. I had a lot of fun in that little boat. Anyway, I just purchased a project ('93 Sea Ray) and I have bookmarked your thread for reference. I will definatly be coming back here for info. I have been reading this thread for the past 4 nights and finally made it to the end. I am hoping that mine turns out 1/2 as good as yours did. I hope that you and your family have a great summer and spend lots of time on the water. If it makes you feel any better, the weather here on the Texas coast has been horrible this year as well. The wind has been blowing 15 to 20 all year. Thanks for all of the videos and information that you have provided. Thanks, Steven

In '83 the engine covers still hinged from the side. The tip about putting in straps to prevent wind from pulling the covers is a good one, I have two ropes (that my father installed) as that kept happening. My engine cover prop system is two PVC pipe pieces that prop up the covers. My engine covers also have two pieces of metal tube reinforcement underneath, at least there since 1988 when my family bought the boat.

I like the gas struts, did you reinforce behind the mount on the fiberglass? I ask because I have seen them tear out of glass on cars.

I might put some limiting straps on soon, but I want to make sure the look good. there is wood behind where they screw in, so they are really strong.

I need some input. I stopped by my local boat shop to kill some time and look at a high end pontoon. I saw one on the lake and thought how cool it would be to have a party barge. When I sat at the helm i noticed that it had an adjustable seat mount. You can go for and aft. that is just really cool. So I found one on iboats.com and I was wondering if anyone has used it.

It would fit right onto my pedestal.

I had one set on a Glastron I owned. Here was my take...I liked it, but, there is a caveat. I found that moving the seat either way added a lot of stress on the pedestal mount points on the floor.

Essentially, you're increasing the 'lever' or prying action on the floor bolts. Over time, I thought it was starting to damage the floor and beginning to pull the bolts out of the floor.

I thought that a tilt steering wheel added far more comfort than the slider on the seat.

If you're confident your floor can take it, than you should be ok. If I had a way to put in a backing plate & bolts to the underside, I'd do it again, but since I don't...I won't. :)

Yes..I have what looks like to be, the exact same one, except your is a Wise. Mine is made by Garelick. I think its awesome, moves fore and aft and swivels around. If my wife is driving she can move closer, and I'm there I can move back..Dorelse mentioned it putting pressure on the lag bolts when not positioned directly over the pedestal shaft. I can see that being possible. But for that reason, I fabbed up a wooden pedestal and then secured it with T-nuts under that. If the bolts rip out it, its going to take a 500lb gorilla.

I ordered that exact mount from Iboats. It was back ordered, but only by a week. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. I have a very simpl folding captain's chair but because of that mount I can now adjust the chair depending on how I want to drive the boat.

1. My mounting plate is screwed and sealed to the deck then..

2. covered with several overlaping layers of 1708 and CSM

3. I used the largest possiblt stainless steel nuts bolts and washers on the mounts

If the seat goes...a large portion of the deck will go with it.

You guys have both done really great variations to fix the weaknesses. Nice job.

I was going to go with something like MTribe08's solution and not use the adjustable seat, just for added strength.

I saw a few of those high end toons at the boat show this year and...Wow! Not your fathers toon.

How's that new depth finder working for you? Does it read steady? Can you see it in the sun? I'm asking because I'm going to replace my transom mount with an in-hull like yours and I want to get a good one.

It seams good so far. We shall see over the long run, and yes you can see it perfectly in the sun.

Good to know. Thanks. The uniden I have now is hard to see and picks up signal noise from the prop. It's useless to me.

Hey guys,

I just could not go without a project. Since the boat is more or less done I needed something new to do. I picked up a '95 polaris SL750 for dirt cheap and I am restoring it. Anyone here interested in a new build or are lakemowers the darkside around here??????

Here is some video.

Nice find! as you know lean and 2 strokes don't mix. If I were you, I'd go through all the carbs and rebuild them as well, make sure everything is nice and clean in there.

I think he got a big bite of the bug. That motor and drive would look and work quite nice in a smaller aluminum or fiberglass boat. That would keep ya busy for a while. :)
