I ordered some samples of carpet the other day, so look for some updates soon, and some decision making.

Here is another thought. Maybe I go with Hydroturf. You can buy the stuff in large sheet (expensive) and then cut it into mats and glue those in. Sort of like snap in carpet.

Hey Jay, glad to hear you are back at it! I haven't heard of hydroturff, what is it exactly? I ended up buying my direct from a mill in Georgia, got a pretty good price on it.

Hey Frisco,

How's the City Motor holding up? It looked stout in your video. Good price too.

Have you thought of installing high quality snap in carpet? You already have the painted floor. Pull it out, clean and dry it. Clean out the boat floor. Best of both worlds. This place will make custom to fit from your template.

I've had glue in carpet in my boat for the past 10 years. Every 2 years I have to pull it out and replace it because it get filthy and stinks. I plan to go the snap in method or maybe something like sseadek. The girls love soft, clean, nice smelling carpet for their feet. That's enough for me to keep it that way.

Arch,

The Hydro turf is really made for the Jet Ski market, but they sell it by the sheet. It is like neoprene rubber and is about 1/2" thick. It has grooves in it to give traction, but does not absorb water. I would glue it in like snap in carpet leaving channels to drain to the back. Still not 100% sure.

Clock Watcher,

The engine is still running super strong, and I could not be happier. She is fogged and sleeping now. I cannot wait for next summer.

Jay I was wondering if that was one of the "rubber" type products. I need something like that for my anchor locker....I'm amazed at what that stuff cost!

Yes it is very expensive. I think I have decided on glue in carpet. To be honest, I think it would outlast our ownership. It also looks really nice. yes it will be more upkeep, but that is what I am good at.

Oh, I noticed one of the trim cylinders was leaking today. One more thing to look at.

I think I am going to go get her out of storage soon and clean her up. I cannot wait to hear the V8 roar again.

Put it in the water and rip it up. Practice your launching skills. Take the wife and kids to Pete's for dinner and do a sunset/night time cruise. The ray will be there tomorrow. Of course, take the video camera. Show the folks here the party cove on Lake Lewisville. Lots of Texas eye candy there.

I hope to make it up there too Arch.

I think we might just have to take her out one of these next weekends. Although the wife is really pushing me to get the ray done. She wants to roll up to party cove in it soon.

Yes party cove is an experience. No kids for sure.

No doubt you'll have it done in record time. Some friends were kind enough to take my son and me out last Saturday. It was the one day the wind wasn't 30+mph. The water was low 70s and normal level. It was a strong motivator to get our rig finished. I hope to splash it next month.

Have you dealt with any of the boat upholstery shops in the area? Any of which you would recommend?

I have not, but I think I will have to find one soon. There is a couple of stitches on the Sea Ray popped on the sun pad.

Just wanted to drop a line letting you know that I love the work and the thread. Very infomative. I am currently replacing part of the floor in my boat and am getting to the point where I need to glass the patches to the floor. I hear of everyone laying glass with resin but I am curious if there is any hardner added to it or is it just straight resin? I would love to not have to mix that much resin with hardner. Thanks for the input.

It's a two-part material. It will never harden at all without the catalyst added.
