Well looks like you hit the nail on the head with this one. I pulled the out line off the pump, stuck the line into a container, pumped the bulb, yup solid fuel coming out, crank the engine, well, lets just say I can pee harder then it came out of that pump, it had just a slight dribble.

Now you have to determine if it is the pump or the pulse causing the issue. Would be nice to know what pump you installed though. Do you know anyone with a similar outboard you could try that pump on to see if it is the pump ???

No I don't know anybody with another outboard, How could it be the pulse though? its just a pulse from the crankcase pressure, don't know how that could be gone? It takes the same pulse as the old VRO pump.

I doubt that it is the pulse. It would be nice to know for sure though. Can you measure the pump you put in ??? I can't tell from the pic's but it looks small to me.
Could just be optical confusion though :)

Its the right one, you'll have to trust me on that, I did allot of research on it first, and it bolted right up to the factory holes. 3/8 in 5/16 out. The guy at the marine place said it was the right one as well.

Well try another one. See if you test it before you take it. Was it an OEM part you used ??

Thanks ya. I went today and just got another one to try, its a 3 connection pump like you have. Yes it was an OEM pump, $100 to boot, he just gave me this one to try. Where did you take the pulse line from when you did your 3 connection pump? From where the VRO one did?

Thanks

Ok I just tried all three pumps I have here vro pump included, hooked the old vro pump and it pumps like a champ, tried the pump I already had and it dribbles out, tried the new 3 connection pump I got today and it dribbles out too. I took a couple of vids uploading now. Am I missing something here????? They are all taking the pulse from the same place?

Do you have any part numbers for any of the pumps ??? sticker on the side of them or anything ???
Pulse line is apparently working fine if the VRO pump is flying it out. Only other thing is the pump itself.

Run the pump output line into a container and crank it over. Have the muffs on to conserve the water pump unless the motor is in the water already. Pull the lanyard so it will not try to start. measure the amount pumped out in a given time frame (30 seconds is good) and do the math as to what GPH it is pumping. Remember that you are only at around 300 RPM when cranking.
Pump should produce continuous strong spurts. If the spurts taper off during the cranking then there is an issue.
What part number pump did you use ??

Hey, I checked the GPH on the VRO pump and I got a rough estimate of 16.6 GPH on cranking, does that seem like enough, I would think it is.
