I have a 1985 evinrude 150. I removed the vro and the wires that went with it. I took it out last weekend and it ran fine ( went about 2 miles fished a bout an hr, ran bout 2 miles fished bout an hr). When I left to go back to the ramp my aerator hose had come off and my bilge was stopped up( lucky day). I had got on plane (b4 realizing i was full of water) and the alarm started going off and the motor was shutting down. I went to the first sand bar plugged the pump off, and emptied out about 2 gal of water. I tried to take off again and the alarm came back on, so I idled back to the ramp. During the week I fixed the pump and bilge, Went out again this weekend and went bout 1mile and the alarm came on again (no water in the boat). Pee hole keeps a steady stream of water. Any suggestions on what to try?
Thanks

did you forget to pre-mix? have you serviced the thermostats? does it have full power before alarm?

Re: 85 evinrude alarm

Don't run it long like this until the problem is rectified.

Sounds like you have a fuel starvation or cooling problem. Either will kill that engine. Borrow a infrared thermometer and check the head temps. This MAY limit your search down to one side.

Pee hole is not a indication of sufficient cooling. Visual inspection of the impeller, or at least a pressure test would give more incite....

I removed the plugs when I got back home about 2 hrs after shutting off the engine and they were wet
