Willing to try anything I did this but got no spark:( The motor seemed a bit harder to crank like that too. I am going to guess grounding issue for you. When the motor raises is gets a better ground. Could be any loose wire at that. Check all your connections, especially ones that move while raising your motor.:)

Well this is getting hairy ain't it?
Disconnect the kill wire at the pack. Check for broken or bare wires on the unit, stator or trigger.

Test your igniton switch. Check for bad wire in the wiring harness.

I got a whole new to me ignition set up coming from a low compression motor. I found it on ebay for $150. Not bad being a mechanic quoted me $700 to fix it! If this dont do the trick I have a FREE Force motor for pick up. It will be in the middle of the road  do not disturb residents, no need to knock on the door, take the motor out of here! lol Na she will run like a champ again I can feel it..:)

I would like to thank everyone for their help and support through this spark epidemic. I still do not know what the issue was BUT I do now what fixed it. I ordered a complete ignition system off of ebay for $150. Not a bad price at all to get me and the family back on the water. The switch took about 1 hour total, I have about 10-15 hours in trouble shooting! Next time I get a issue I am going straight to ebay! lol

thanks again,
cordell

Don't throw those old parts away!!!

Some of those parts are still good, save them til you need them.

Search for the CDI Ignition Troubleshooting Guide, it is a very clear guide to step by step troubleshooting, accurate right down to which color wire to test.

Re: 85 hp Force no spark..buzzer going off !!FIXED!!

Yeah I plan to keep them all. The cool thing is the ignition system I bought was from a 150 horse, therefor I have a extra cdi box and a few extra coils I didn't have to use! I even ordered another stator for a 85 horse, the correct one for my motor. This way I will be ready for another issue like this. As long as I keep compression I should keep a running motor. :) The extra stator I ordered was only $21 on ebay. That web site is chalked full of used force parts. As much as I love this motor (when it is running) I am looking to repower my boat. The 85 horse is just not enough for my 18 foot bow rider. My coast guard rating says 90 horse, but I see the same boat with 120 horse all the time. Even iboats gives my boat a 120 horse power rating. You will see the manufacturers rating of 90 and then iboats rating at 120. I like the 120! :)

Thanks
cordell
