Re: '86 Aluminum Starcraft Restoration

Ahem, I think you're supposed to be working on that boat young man... not galavanting around the lake trying to hurt poor little shads and catfishes.:laugh:

Had to remind myself why I was fixing my boat again. :joyous: But actually, the 115 Merc on the back of this Glastron that I was fishing on had some serious issues. It is my friends boat. I rebuilt the carbs, fuel pump, waterpump, and replaced the stator, trigger and rectifier as well as removed the idle stabilizer assembly and this bad boy RUNS!! He took me out fishin' as a thankyou! Either way it was a rewarding day for more than one reason.

The ones that big usually come up smiling or smoking cigars...

Nice catch... :fish::fish:

Got carpet glued and floor in. Currently setting it with rivets through the carpet so I can pull floors if I ever need to. Worked out pretty well so far.

Thanks guys! Here's the finished product. I made a bilge and livewell access hatch to give me more floors space under the splash well.

Nice work on the floor and the fishing. A 50lber would trash any rod I have. Have fun and work hard.

Man I have some cheapo Shakespeare tidewater reels that have always done fine but the fine tuning of the drag is almost non existent with bigger fish. That fish pulled my heavy rod tip apart down to the water. He was fighting in hard bursts.

I've been meaning to ask this and keep forgetting. What is the green hose in the bilge and at the bow for? Live well?

Man Neal biggest cat I have caught out of Anna was around 12 lbs. this was in the lower James river. They breed em big down there. And yes ga those hoses run from the bilge. I have a livewell fill/wash down hose and a drainage hose. My livewell is removable and had standard garden hose fittings so I can just plug n play.

Thanks. I was wondering. Sounds nice and simple.

Re: '86 Aluminum Starcraft Restoration

Made some great progress this past weekend! Got all of the panels and floatation foam back in. Getting ready to finish up the electrical wiring, and this weekend I will hopefully get some primer and a topcoat on. Then the plan is following weekend to get the motor on the back of this old girl. I can't believe that I am actually on time to get on the water by spring this year!!

Jig, where did you get those floor mounts for your seat pedestals. I have the same kind but need one more.

Re: '86 Aluminum Starcraft Restoration

Sooooo I got all of the interior panels riveted in this weekend. Put in the console, steering cable, controls and all that jazz. I have also been working on the evinrude. It ran perfectly (in the driveway) and had a nice stream of water, but I decided to do fuel pump, carbs, water pump, thermostat and shift shaft seals (it was leaking there.) I like to be SURE of when the last service was performed. Well worth the $141 in shipped parts in my opinion.
