I think that is an optical illusion... the dog kid and fuel really had us pretty level. I am considering some ballast up in the nose because the stern squats a lot when climbing onto a plane. with my dad on the bow it planed off quicker and at a slower speed.

Trim tabs may be a worthwhile investment.

I agree with EZ trim tabs would help loads, with out the added weight, plus your wallet will be lighter.:D

So, I got the boat back from the paint shop and the finish is not really that good. The dealer held up to their promises but the paint shop just kinda hacked it. The good news is that I will have my new gauge next week and I will be taking her to put in bay over the weekend! Let me know exactly what you would like measured because I will have time this weekend.

Re: 86 islander

I just browsed through the thread again and wanted to update some info... first the title switch was easy I just took the boat and the titles to the division of watercraft and they wrote me a letter telling the title division to change it over. Also, the boat with a 150 HP set back 24" runs out at 45 mph and doesn't blow out in tight turns. but I don't think that there is much room to raise the motor mounting height. I mounted the motor 27" above the keel and it seems very close to correct. The swim platform sits about 3-4" from the water at rest. it will just barely go under / even to the water when launching depending on the steepness of the ramp.

Also, regarding the trim tabs, after loading up the boat for cruising (cooler, spare anchor, food, ect,) I don't think that trim tabs are an absolute necessity but I will probably invest in some in the future anyhow.
