So the lead wouldn't cause my heads to be rebuilt? Does he mean because of the detonation issuse I had? I'm a bit slow after a long work day...

So whats the deal with the lead in gas? Did the lead ruin my heads or what? I'm a bit confused about what Rat Capri stated?

Ayuh,... Lead went Away, Long before your motor was built,... It's Designed to run on No-Lead, 87 octane....
Adding Lead to a motor not needing it Drains your pocketbook,... Don't really Hurt the motor...
Check the Sparkplugs for Build-up of Crud...

Btw,... Capri has been Challenged, not Once, but Twice,....
Why do you question questionable Info,.... That's been Challenged,..??

It very well may be around there. I cant honestly remember. So I'm very well hoping a good tune-up may solve a few problems. Like I said I usually just cruised around 3000-3500rpm. Yesterday was the first day I've gotten it over 4500, and the first time I've noticed any issues. I did push the throttle foward and noticed 2 nice streams of gas going into the carb, not sure if that means anything about my issue at higher rpm though

Ayuh,... The Carb does several things at different times,...
Those Streams help Get you there, but other parts take over from there,...

Darn. I didnt get to the parts store after work so I didnt take off the filters yet. I have a bad feeling about this whole situation but i suppose its a good time/way to learn.

depending on how much lead you added it could build up on the valve stems and ruin the valve guides....you most likely have a build up on the seats, while not necassarily catastrophically deterimental will cause loss of performance ......I'm not saying that you will absolutley need the heads done now, but it's something to watch out for in the future
