Re: 87 Sea Ray Seville
I may have found my issue with the steering noise. I have a post in the Mercruiser section and am getting some good advice from there. turned the wheel all the way to the right and noticed that I have significant play in steering back at the gimbal housing area around the steering mechanism. My Rack and Pinion cable is bound up so the cable inside is very stiff. this may be giving me the slop that I was feeling.
I did pull the drive, and the alignment looks great. splines are all in tact and the alignment slide right in. the u-joints felt good with no endplay in them so I felt good about that. I don't have the retainer tool to remove the retainer to change them at this time. May to order a new cable to the steering fixed. as far as the other issues of alignment and such I feel good about them.
sail on.....tink
BTW still need a cable to upload videos of the launch.
