On my 87 125hp I can raise and lower the motor but what happens is after raising the motor with the trim tilt switch like when you are taking the boat out of the water the motor slowly goes back down. By the time I get it out of the water like 5 minutes its back to the run position. There are no leaks at the connections so I am thinking its a bad seal in the ram. My question is is there rebuild kits for this cause I have not found any or is it something else.

Have you checked the manual release valve to see if it is loose?

If it's drifing down on it's own?? Then the hydrolic pump needs a rebuild.
If it drifts down to the trim position it could be the tilt ram??
But the hyd motor's probably the problem.
You have the manual? It has the test procedures for testing the hyd system.

Don't mess with the manual release,it can cause even more problems if you haven't touched it.
I tried to release a drive that was locked in the UP position.First it's didn't release anything and then it started leaking and the owner ended up replacing the whole system.Luckily it was under warranty.

that'll be your pump aka valve body.

when your ram seals go bad the internal leak is larger. The pump struggles to lift and the engine falls down like a rock.

in general, rebuild the rams when the top seal on tilt or trim cylinder looks the least bit cracked, stiff, or compromised. The rams themselves should go up and down for 30 years. However, when the top seals go bad then they let water in and your system can end up broken beyond repair.

mine was/is doing the exact same thing but it took a little longer to go all the way down. I sent my valve body in to get rebuilt.
from what i read 99% of the time its the valve body
PM RRitt and he will take care of you!

Hyd motor is in the bottom of the trim motor assy. It's held in by 4 screws and 4 hyd lines..It can be tricky to remove. The side mount can be a bummer.I use a very thin 1/2in box end wrench.
Best bet, undo the wires and the hyd lines. Then drain the oil. By then RRitt will tell you what to do with it.
