I am starting a project recovering all of the vinyl in our 88 Bayliner. My hubby is redoing the floor. I am new to posting on here but have been looking for some time at the different posts. I will post progress pics. A friend of ours has a bayliner and I am recovering his seats also. Wish me luck on this project!! How do you add pics to this?

Re: 88 Bayliner Project

Wow thanks for the vote of confidence you guys are giving me. Now here is a good question. Has anyone tackled recovering the back to back seats for a bayliner? They are not just the flat seats and backs. Having a little trouble getting them to look right. Can anyone offer any suggestions on these?

Sj,

I think they are just form fitting over the foam piece. Disassemble carefully and use the old material as a pattern. I don't think there is any thing real complicated there.

Re: 88 Bayliner Project

I have read some real good posts on replacing the carpet with Durabak floor coating. Have looked at several different ones on the web and I think this product would be great for what we want. I know some on this forum have used it and just wanted to know what you think now. Mother nature is cooperating with us on this project - we have a winter storm warning on till tuesday night!

Nice looking job on the seats. When I have mine redone, they will be all white or off white. I'm tired of getting burned from the sun baking the red portions of my seats.

Re: 88 Bayliner Project

I thought about doing them in all one color or two color, it would be alot easier than what I am attempting but so far I am pleased with how they are looking. We are thinking of doing the floor in the Durabak floor coating in a light grey so I think that adding the color on the seats was a good idea. We had dark red seats in another boat that we had and yes they do get hot, but don't they all when they are in the warm sun. We do alot of fishing so I think the Durabak will work great for easy clean up.

Re: 88 Bayliner Project

Our Bayliner project is coming along very slow. Had the crack in the block welded and then found out that the frost plug in the back of the engine was out. Currently have the engine pulled and in the process if replacing plug. Interior is coming along nicely. I actually did the back to back seats and I think they look pretty darn good for a beginner. I will post pics of them in the next couple of days. Floor is replaced, new fiberglass is down, and now awating the paint from durabak for the floor.

Re: 88 Bayliner Project

Our project boat has finally come together! (well there is always something to be done but at least it is on the water)

After fixing the soft plug in the engine and putting the engine back in, and rehooking all the stuff to it it runs good. Needs carb adjustment. Oil pressure good - no milky looking oil. Temp good. Needs some wiring issues taken care of. Hubby says minor issue on the wiring!

Interior complete!!! Used the Durabak paint on the floor, there is no slip to it even when there is water on it. Great stuff.

Re: 88 Bayliner Project

Now it is time to enjoy!!! Have had it on the water several times. Had to change the prop from a 21 pitch to a 17 pitch. But runs great - Goes slow enough to fish and fast enough to pull a tube! It also worked great for pulling our buddys truck, boat and trailer out of the drink! Long story and no pics!

wait what? your boat has wheels on it? or did you pull away from the landing while using a pylon as a pivot point?
