Speedometer did not work today and upon inspection I noticed that the tube was kinked from, I believe, getting caught between motor and swivel bracket. I took it apart and repaired but it seems that the problem will occur again due to the design and positioning of the tube. My fish finder system has a speedo so it's not a big deal if it dosn't work but being anal about the boat make's me ask for suggestions. The tube seems to be very long and loose and has a joint in the middle as if someone lengthned it at one time?. Is their anything I can do to stop this from happening again?. The tube enters a little hole behind the tilt tube and makes it way down behind the swivel bracket but is not protected from crushing.

They use little cable stays in the tv cable buisness. These stays are available at Radio Shack ,or many other electronics parts stores, and many retailers. They are ideal for rerouting this the speedo tube (called the "petit tube" ) on your boat anywhere you want it.<br />But instead of using screws, as you would in cable instalations, use methacrylate or epoxy two-part as an adhesive. It can be held in place by a stick, or 2" wide electrical or masking tape until it kicks.
