LOL, I noticed that creepy guy too! Murphy?

The drive looks nice, lil buggy, and I agree another coat couldn't hurt at all. That missing chunk shouldn't cause you any problems I wouldn't think. I've taken bigger chunks out of mine. Added one of those skeg guards to my last outdrive.

Sweet score on the bumpers!

Everytime I see your name on here, this comes to mind, lmao :D You need to name that boat, my "little corvair",lol

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4ShAZOoRbQ&feature=player_detailpage
lmao,:D:D, that engine sounds sweet, i forgot about that song lol, the admiral came in to check it out. too funny, thanks for the:D
i was gonna try to post a sound byte but quite frankly, i'm useless with that stuff, lmao tho

we been planin the name since we got her, first choice was lil buggy ll, but everything went south so quickly, and we sat at the slip for fall between things breaking and fixing and breaking and:facepalm: towing.
the admiral said its a nice boat while hangin out at the dock,,,lol so after a lil browsing around we came up with.

docknocker
port of Beaver PA

we laughed for hours, fits great, and the way the gas is goin who knows,,,lol .

almost orded it here from Iboats like 3 times but havent made the total commitment yet,,,lmao
no more engine or drive problems wooooooooo maybe thats why i cant make the commitment,,, who knows

you got that right, just about the time we stopped laughing about the name, we thought of that, lmao,,,, everytime i say it we get a chuckle. no straight faces for sure...

well, i pulled the paper off the outdrive tonight. it looks pretty good still just a little pitted but the second coat smoothed some of it out.
i kinda wish i would have been more patient and got it all baby bottom smooth, but with the deep pitting i didn't want to risk buying a third outdrive:facepalm:,,, in six months,,lol

007.jpg

not sure why its greay in the pic but its all the same,,lol

i still need to address the pitting on the gimbal ring(it was like the upper outdrive
if the bellows need done it will be easy and quick to finish
i will pull the prop and have serviced, a few ridges and scratches and nics on the blades, not bad but since the pich# was scratched out i want to get some baselines on that prop and the spare so i can make an informed descion on a 4 blade.

best news of all,,,,,,

the mechanic called, engine is in the boat:D wires are straightened , waiting on the outdrive.
also waiting on my loacation for the deckplate in the gunwhale for the battery switch( it was mounted inside the engine bay on the firewall to cabin, you had to fold up the rear couch then lift the large hatch climb down in,,, ) you get the picture it was a pita to access for a change.

i cant wait to bring her home to shine her up and finish the rest of the upgrades:D
wooooooooooooooooo, it's almost time, i cant wait

i hope everyone got some kind of good news today

Congratulations lil buggy! Great news that the motor is in and the drive ready to install. You'll be on the water in no time!!!

Any idea on the pitch of that prop? I've got a 4-blade 16 pitch off my Merc Alpha 1. I ended up with 4 different props over the years. A guy I know does props for a living. I finally settled on using the original custom stainless 3-blade for the big lake and a custom aluminum 3-blade for the rocky bottom of the river. I still have the other two aluminum props, a 3-blade 17 pitch and the 4-blade 16 pitch. All 19 inch diameter.

Re: 89 Fiesta Vee 250 setbacks, projects, and upgrades!

BSnB,
the diameter of all three props i have is 14.5,
not sure abot the pitch on the one thats on the drive but it must have had some work done on it because the pitch was scratched out.
i cant remember what the spare prop is, maybe 15? lol,, i'll check. i got a stainless one 17 pitch i believe, on the second bad outdrive i bought, but it also had the wrong gears in the upper end. i believe that its too big a pitch to enable me to plane out, but not sure. i'll check soon and tell ya for sure what i got.

i was diggen into the props last fall when i started having all the issues.
as soon as i get her wet i will start doing the testing,,,
i cant wait.
it is supposed to dip under freezing tonite or tomorrow here,,, but we are close now

Where ya gonna put the deckplate for the MBSS?
Mine is the engine room also and I totally agree! it sucks getting down in there to change it. It would also be nice to have quick access to it for emergency purposes. If something shorted and was melting or burning up, the boat would burn away while trying to access the battery switch!

on my port gunwale a few inches from from my shorepower hookup. old pic but.
either black circle will do, even though it will be buried by an open aft window i prefer the lower spot under the shorepower hookup.
even tho i will use a round deckplate i will be much happier not having to lift that big honken lid:D i would prefer a rectangular box if i had one laying around, lol

Re: 89 Fiesta Vee 250 setbacks, projects, and upgrades!

following chriscraft 254's lead, pimpen boat !
after my procrastination on the reoder costed me a few more than a few weeks, i finally ordered the right waterproof rgb led's tonite for the cockpit and cabin lighting. and while i was at it i got a bunch of the 4 wire and jumpers to make the install easier.
i plan on puttin them everywhere, heck, 32 ft of the stuff,, lol:D score:D
i ended up buying 2 sets so i can use one of the remotes in the cabin, and one above deck,,lol

i am way excited to get them in.:D. we have a few more weeks to splash up here and i am stoked:D

hope everyone had a good day

Re: 89 Fiesta Vee 250 setbacks, projects, and upgrades!

good news,

even though i had a setback today all is well.
i picked up my campertop today:D, i went down to the boat to try out the new zippers and eisinglass
and what did i find?,,, i heard something runnin and when i turned the corner
:D it was my boat,,, the bellows just got finished and they were adjusting the new lower shiftcable. she sounds sooo sweet:D when all was adjusted correctly, we figured out that the easiest way to move the battery switch,
we didn't,,lol. instead we drilled a deckplate into the motor cover. 8 in on center from the firewall 13in in from the side. which also just happened to be right between the support beams on the lid,
so now i remove the deckplate and reach my hand in there to switch the battery selector its only a few inches in,,, and my meat hooks reached it easily, score.
so the admiral and i hooked up to our summertime friend and dragged her back to the house so we can pay a lil more attention to her before we get her wet,, priceless.

so thats where the setback happened,,
first of all those campertops are extremely easy to get up, lol.
well got the bimini back on the poles and snap, one of the lil plastic ends broke off:mad: but moving on,,,
we got the front glass on(snapped and zippered) and the side panels snapped in (and we were closing the zippers when it happened,)
one of the zippers that were just installed,,,broke free from the threads that secured it to the bimini arrg:facepalm:

so tomorrow am before work i will drop the bimini back off for reinstall, and rethread.
the seamstress was appologetic and will take care of it quickly, i will get my cockpit cover resnapped as well. i am glad she will stand behind her work, it actually makes me glad that i chose her for the job.

bottom line,,, even tho i suffered a setback this evening i am super excited ,,,, after all,,, she's right outside:D
wooooooooo i am lookin at her thru the window,,,lol
hope everyone had a good day,, and sorry no pics, i'll get some soon
