Re: 90HP or 115HP
I'm picking up my boat tomorrow, repowered with a 90 E-Tec. I beleive that you'll be able to reuse your current controls with an E-TEC, which will save you a few hundred $$. When the tech looked over my boat to quote the parts and labor, he commented that it was too bad I didn't have the ability to reuse the controls. (Duh, old motor was a Merc!). You will need a system check guage or tach though, for the warning lights.
I dug long and hard before parting with the cash and decided the E-TEC was worth it. I vacillated about saving a few hundred and getting a 75 (same motor, detuned), but decided to max out the HP. I can't wait to take it for a spin tomorrow when I pick it up. Should be pushing close to 40 knots, if they propped it right, probably over 40 mph. Boat is a 18' Avon RIB, hull weighs all of 700 lbs. Forecast is only for 40 degrees... brrrr!
