Re: 90HP or 115HP

I'm picking up my boat tomorrow, repowered with a 90 E-Tec. I beleive that you'll be able to reuse your current controls with an E-TEC, which will save you a few hundred $$. When the tech looked over my boat to quote the parts and labor, he commented that it was too bad I didn't have the ability to reuse the controls. (Duh, old motor was a Merc!). You will need a system check guage or tach though, for the warning lights.

I dug long and hard before parting with the cash and decided the E-TEC was worth it. I vacillated about saving a few hundred and getting a 75 (same motor, detuned), but decided to max out the HP. I can't wait to take it for a spin tomorrow when I pick it up. Should be pushing close to 40 knots, if they propped it right, probably over 40 mph. Boat is a 18' Avon RIB, hull weighs all of 700 lbs. Forecast is only for 40 degrees... brrrr!

sounds good. Cold though, good luck with that. Please let me know how you like it and how fast in MPH you were able to get. Did you get the jack plate? how highdid it have to be set up either on the transom or plate.
My insurance company may not come through for me as they do not believe me that my boat partially sunk at the this past summer and the motor was about half way under. It was pulled out by a nieghbor immediately (within a day), he actually bailed it out, recharged the battery and bought a new sump pump (it failed) for the boat, installed it and put it back out. A few weeks later I went up, drove around the lake and it pretty much blew up. The Insurance co. said they didn't see any water marks and checked the impeller (fine), now they are trying to blame it on the oil mixer pump. Stating that these engines are netorious for this part failing and it is probably what caused this and they are probably not going to cover this as a result. Unbelievable.........Any advice.:|

thanks again
Nick
he forgot to tell me about it having sunk

Signed affidavid<sp> by your neighbour from a JP or Commissioner of Oathes that your boat was underwater. Oil pumps are replaced far more than the number of times they actually fail
