Thank you in advance for taking the time to help, my boat information is listed below.

No they are different in 1992 as the drive went through some serious changes see item # 13 below

Try a local Johnson/Evinrude dealer as they can order parts from BRP

Also try these guys as they list it 1992 Water Pump Kit

Re: 92 AMK OMC King Cobra P/N Question/Verification

Does anyone have a source for that water pump repair kit? I've googled the part number and find nothing, whereas when I googled the (wrong) part number I come up with quite a few hits.

Boatin Bob, thanks for this information. Do you/would you happen to have the part number break down for the above part list? I'd appreciate it very much. I purchased my OMC manual, part list and owners manual from MarineEngine.com but they were out of the 92 part lists so they sent me a 91 instead.

Thanks in advance.

James,

If you go to www.johnson.com (it's easier than the evinrude site) there is a link to "genuine parts" and then a link to "engine diagrams", BRP has all sterndrive engine diagrams online from 1968 to 1998.

There is also a link to "non-current literature" which takes you to kencook.com. They don't list your sterndrive model but it might be worth a call, I got an original OMC service manual for my 1989 2.3L King Cobra this summer from them.

Actually I just did another search on their site using just "584" and got several hits for 1992. They have model 584DPEAM and 584DPEAMH. I know my one service manual covered all models and engines sizes in 1989.

Boatin Bob,

I cannot even begin to thank you enough for this post and even more so for you taking the time to finding the part for me (crossing my fingers that they have it in stock). I wish I could buy you a beer or something. You have been a HUGE help. Like I said, I simply can't thank you enough.

Freedom,

Thank you for your input as well. As we speak I am checking out the site you posted and bookmarking it. Thank you for taking the time to post it. I do have the factory OMC repair manual for my year as well as the OMC factory owners manual for my year. Unfortunately the part list I got was for '91's. I'm going to check out the site you listed to see if I can get those '92 part lists. Thank you again!

I will update this post if the parts were in stock (and once I receive them) so if anybody doing a search needs to find them can.

Thank you both again.

Re: 92 AMK OMC King Cobra P/N Question/Verification

Update for anyone with the cone clutch drive:

I ordered the part last night (10/5/2006) but received an email that it was not in stock. They (Doug Russel Marine) have ordered the part. I'll let you know if it comes in and when it comes in.

Boatin Bob,

If you're ever in Virginia or I am ever in Ontario the beer will be flowing. 8)

HT32BSX115 (Rick),

I love my Liberator. I cannot tell you what my top speed is because I bought the boat very late in the season and never got to enjoy it. The previous owner had it sold at Smith Mountain Yacht on consignment and they said it was between 50 and 55, but I'll believe it when I see it. The boat meets our needs, though, and I just truly love it, enough to where I will re-power it and switch to Volvo-Penta one day.

I know a guy on one of the car sites I visit that just bought an '87 or '88 big block 211 Liberator. It's a sharp boat.

Take care,

James

Thanks bruceb58. I have found them and bookmarked them. I will try and contact them tomorrow and see if they have the part available.

Fast Eddies = http://www.fasteddiesmarineparts.com/ for anyone who may be looking for it.

Thanks again,

It's a neat boat!

I get about 50 mph (GPS) at 4200 rpm

Hope you get it fixed

I'd love to replace the 460/OMC with a Volvo Penta 425HP EFI package !

Cheers,

Rick

Re: 92 AMK OMC King Cobra P/N Question/Verification

Quick update for anyone that may care or may need the info:

1) Doug Russel Marine got the part in and I received it today.

2) Fast Eddie's Marine Parts had it in stock, too.

Depending on where you purchase it you are looking at $113 to $153 for the part (water pump repair kit).

I want to, again, thank you Boatin Bob and bruceb58 for the leads to finding the part. I cannot thank either of you enough.

I also want to thank you, Freedom, as the BRP site was VERY helpful and is now in my favorite bookmarks.

Lastly, thanks HT32BSX115 (Rick), for the Liberator talk. I hope to be able to answer you with my GPS but I'll have to sit it out until spring I'm afraid.

Thanks again, this site is fantastic and you guys and gals are fantastic.

Was Fast Eddies the cheaper of the two places?

Re: 92 AMK OMC King Cobra P/N Question/Verification

Looks like Fast Eddies was $40 cheaper since DR was the $153 part...good for you, glad you were able to get it and hope this solves your problem, the $40 you saved can always go to the gas pump!

ooops....just reread the post again looks like you got it from DR and didn't save the $40??

Re: 92 AMK OMC King Cobra P/N Question/Verification

Sorry guys that I was unavailable.

Yes, I had already put an order in it at DRM, so I paid more. Fast Eddies was the cheapest site I found. But, believe me, all that matters is I got the part in. I did the work yesterday and the boat is in "ship shape." Naturally, had I not already ordered I would have paid less ;) but it was worth the extra money to get the part when I did and be back out for a few more weeks until the season is over. I hope this thread will be useful for others, too.

Again, I thank both of you sincerely. If you're ever in the Chesapeake Bay, particularly the Rappahannock River, I'll buy you a beer and a dinner. 8)

Thanks,

James
