This motor was given to me as a result of an estate settlement therefore I have no history of the motor. When I started it up, no water came out of the pee hole. I rebuilt the water pump (impeller was bad), still no water. Checked lines and water tube, no obstructions. Does this engine have to run a while before the thermostat opens or does water come out of the pee hole when you first start the motor? Should I replace the thermostat or is there something else I should check.

Beaglerunner, try running a wire up the pee hole or blowing back through with compressed air. Probably just plugged up.

I disconnected the line from the engine housing and injected water through the pee hole line. The line is not stopped up. I also checked the engine housing inlet tube and it was not clogged.

Hi Beaglerunner and welcome here.

Are you sure you did line up the copper tube and the waterpump outlet ? If you drop the lowerunit you could try to connect a hose to the watertube and see if it pee's. I also saw one who once lost the little white drive key for the impeller when pump was put together, causing impeller to spin on shaft, which gives no water. They pee right from a second after start when all is fine.

G Dane
No luck. The copper tube is lined up. I took out the watertube and attached a line to it. Blew air though the tube and felt air at the pee hole (no stoppages). Took off the pump and verified placement of the impeller and the white key. Reinstalled, started, no water. Now I am really confused. Even checked the inlet screen for clogging, its ok. Now I am really confused. Thinking back, I did not change the pump housing. Any thoughts there?

Are you testing it with ears or in a barrel. With ears try turning up the water pressure. In a barrel be sure the water level is several inches above where the water pump is.

The problem was using water ears without enough pressure. I put the motor in a barrel and the pump worked fine. Thanks to all.
