The new driveshaft bellows should come with a new ring. Mine did. Let me tell you, they are a pain to get in. It took me about an hour, and many attempts at bending. I ended up using two fat, flat-head screwdrivers on opposite sides, and my fingers on a third part to push it on.

Actually, with the special tool (I made one from plywood) and some Merc powertuner, and the OEM bellows (aftermarket are a PITA, even with powertune, special tools and all). The ring goes in easily and takes about 15 to 30 seconds. ( you have to hold it in there a bit so it doesn't pop back out)

Any chance you have a picture of your plywood tool Don?
