Thanks GT! I was proud until I found the water. LOL!! Still proud just frustrated. The coloring is a good idea if the leak is from the tanks but since I dont use them its got to be coming from one or more of the through hull fittings.

How many through hull fittings do you have? Might be worth it to go ahead and replace them all and not have to worry about this in the future.

Total of 4. Drain plug (plugged on outside), livewell intake, livewell drain (plugged on outside), washdown pump intake (plugged on outside).

So here's an update. I dropped her in the lake for about 45minutes tonight to monitor any water intake that would have caused the amount found this past weekend. When I pulled her out and pulled the plug on the ramp....nothing!! I did notice a small amount of water in the bottom of the bilge, not even a measurable depth, but not certain that it wasnt left from weekend when it took on water or when I filled it. None of the through hulls showed any sign of leaking. And no sign of leakage at the livewell pump fittings.

So for now, I am going to proceed with caution and assume the issue was purely caused by my own stupidity and not closing the access hatch in the splashwell. We will have the boat out this weekend for 4+ days on the water. We will be with others and in a location that I can keep a constant eye on it and if need be yank it out quickly. Not to mention, the water is shallow enough, less than 2ft, at the dock we use that even if it were to fill with water, it would sit on bottom and still be out of the water.

Good to here,.......

One other thing to maybe check is the connections on the hose when the pumps are running,..

I've seen leaks in livewell fill hoses start to fill the boat when running,..

Hopefully your all good and get to enjoy the boat,...

So here's the scoop. Launched at 1630 on thursday afternoon for a weekend on the water. Spent the first several hours constantly checking the bildge for water. After the first day with no water at all, the checks became more sporadic. Never ran the bildge pump all weekend, had a rainy monday afternoon, and when we finally pulled out at 1730 on monday, about 2-3 cups of water drained out.

Thought Id just report back after having the boat out nearly every other weekend since finishing her. For the most part, I'm very satisfied with the finished product. However, I am having one fairly annoying issue that Im trying to find a solution for. The boat was in the water for 6 days over the 4th of July holiday that included a nasty heat wave out here in Calif, with 7 days over 105 degrees. And during this heat, the vinyl that I applied to the inner sides of the hull began peeling away from the alum as if the glue just failed. I'm going to have to remove the side panels and rod holders to see if I can repair it by just re-gluing or if I will have to remove and replace entirely. So far its not in a place that is visable, unless you know what youre looking for, so it will probably wait until we have cooler weather and our schedules slow done

Happy to hear you have been enjoying the fruits of your labor...

Even better that your only big complaint seems to be the vinyl pulling off...

On the glue issue...what type of glue did you use?

I used Weldwood contact cement as recommended by many on here that have done the same

Yep, that is good stuff...was it the solvent based or water based?
I personally prefer the solvent base whenever possible...
In my experience with it, I have found that when gluing up near the edge of stuff, I tended to skimp on the amount I would apply to both sides, to keep from having it ooze out, only to find that it wasn't enough and the edges would start to lift...
I overcame this by using masking tape to mark off the surface where the piece was going to attach, and put on a heavy application of the glue, sometimes even going over it with a second coat when the first one is dry, then when it was all dry and ready to be joined, I would pull the masking tape and lay the piece down...after 24 hours, if any of it oozed out or looked unsightly, I would remove the excess with some Mineral Spirits and elbow grease...
BTW, you owe us some "Splash" pictures, or, as we say here..."it didn't happen"...:rolleyes:;):D:lol:

It doesnt say if water or solvent based, just says "original contact cement". I was thinking just the opposite, that maybe I had put it on too thick, but it sounds like that isnt an issue. Because the areas pulling off are hidden behind the side panels, Im not going to pull it apart right away as I have two more trips planned on back to back weekends in August. After that I'll start investigating further and hopefully be able to glue it back up.

I do have "Splash" pics on the camera when I find it and get them downloaded I will post. Right now Im awaiting the arrival of some bushings for my power trim cylinders so I can get it back on the water ASAP. Salmon season started on the rivers here on July 16th and I havent been out yet after breaking power trim over the 4th of July week. Jonesing for some Chrome

Yes, that's the solvent based...the water based one says it on the label...
Good luck getting your new trim parts in time...
