Hey all,

New to the forum and in the process of becoming a doral owner. As most of you know, the doral brand is unique in the states, which personally, I like not having a sea ray like everyone else on the lake. Being new to looking at thbe doral brand, I'm a little apprehensive after one of my wifes work friends husband compared it to a bayliner (no offense if you have one). What are your overf"l thoughts on the quality of your doral boats? Any thoughts and opinions are appreciated. Tanks in advance!

Welcome to the forum and congrats on being a Doral owner.
Dorals are a quality boat, not to be compared to Bayliners (couldn't resist that, lol) I'm super happy with mine and yours is a really nice machine. Now, what you need to do is post some pics.

Your wifes work friend is evidently not familar with Doral Boats. Dorals craftmanship is superb!

Bayliner = Ford Focus or Dodge Neon
Doral = Cadillac or Lincoln

That should sum it up. :D
If in doubt read the Bayliner section and tell me how many cracked transom and soft floor threads you find :eek::eek:

G'Day from sunny Australia,

I am also new on here (tried to join a while ago but something went wrong).

I bought a new Doral Elegante (I think you call them a 330SE) in Sept 2006 (the very first one here), I have cover approximately 700 hours so far and the only complaint I have is with volvo.

Heh, that's pretty good, tho, I usually like to equate Bayliners to Hyundais n Kias..there seem to be folks out there that think they're good too :D
all joking aside, when we're on the water aboard our boats, we're all king of the world!

Ha ha, 32 Deg C. here today Top Rack, we don't get down to 14 in the dead of winter!

JBF 1962, I think I'd rather own a Hyundai than a Bayliner... The ones that make it over here leak and crack better than any other boat on the market.

Albrighttrw, on the quality side, unlike its Cousins in the US and Canada my Doral is in use all year, it comes out of the water for anti foul and a service every Oct and thanks to volvo and their rubbish drives Jan or Feb for addition volvo repairs (new drives going on soon... again) all of my cupboard doors still line up, I have no cracks in the gelcoat and no water leaks that aren't related to the volvo bellows and steering pin seals. All up very happy. My only Doral related problems were some suspect SS fasteners that started corroding in weeks after delivery and the dark blue gelcoat faded around the transom after 3 years and won't buff back to colour any more.

Don't forget to post some pics BSAFlash! Sounds like you have a nice Doral. BTW, it's currently -24C in Toronto >.<

Have you tried wet sanding?

That's my first winter job. The guy I had doing the annual polish told me the coat was very thin but after a graze from rafting up on New Years I can see that there is actually quite a bit of depth to the gelcoat.

JBF 1962, -24C ??? No wonder the Doral is so nice below deck!

I think I managed to attach a photo. I call it another day in paradise
The young Lad is my neighbour's Son, even the whisper of a day on the boat has him at my front door bags packed and ready to go.

An idyllic pic of your Doral, especially to a Canadian in January. lol. Can't really blame your neighbours son at all for wanting to tag along, can you? :p
