I left the marina and went about 500 yards and it felt like the throttle was pulled back part way. I was still on plane but felt like about 30% of the power just slowly backed off. Gave it little more but it still felt like something was missing. I put it in idle and even turned it off. It started again just fine but took forever it get back on plane. Checked the carbs today and they all opened fine. Shift cable ok to. I will check the fuel filter tomarrow. The only other thing I can think of is I did use some older oil that I had from my other boat. It was in its original container and I had only used part of it.. Does oil go bad? Where should I start looking? I'm open to suggestions.

130 Johnson 1999
Thanks James

Hello
check the spark plugs. next check the filters. then remove the airbox and remove the carb main jet screws. also called drains. tilt the motor up and try to catche the fuel in a clean white rag
look for water or other debris. pump the primer a few times to assist in flushing them.
Good luck and keep posting

Is the main jet screw the large screw below the opening to the carbs? I have not played with this engine that much. Thanks for the input. I will start with the plugs and let you know what I find..

James

Does oil go bad? I was figuring the distance i went before I lost some power. It could be obout the amount of gas that was in the line because the tank is up under the center console. The oil is less than 2 years old and as I said before is in its original container. It was a gallon and about 3/4 full..
Still idles fine and does not sound like its missing. I was told today that maby the rings went out on one of the pistons but that doesn't sound right .. Maby I should fill the tank with fresh gas and oil and run it out.

James - I'm going against the flow on this one. I suspect that you are dropping a cylinder. As rodbolt suggested examine the plugs. Also check the spark with a spark testor. Spark for all cylinders should look about the same, should be bright & jump at least 1/2" gap.
