I have a 1999 Johnson 150 HP Oceanpro with no spark. When I tried to start this OB after a few weeks of not being in use it would not start but it cranks over just fine. My first thought was fuel but I seem to have fuel everwhere I need to. I then checked for spark and found it had none. I have the factory manual so I did the Total Output test, which showed no spark at all cylinders. Then did the Stop Circuit Test by disconnecting the port side power pack connetor but still no spark. I also did the key switch test which grounded the power pack when switched off but not while the key is in the on position. I did the Power Coil Test, Charge Coil Test and even the Shift Switch Test, which all turned out normal according to the manual. The only one I can't do is the Timing Sensor Test because I don't have the special tester. Is there a way to check the Timing Sensor without this tool? If this sensor goes out should I at least get some kind of spark even if it is out of time? Is it common for these timing sensors to fail without warning? Or, is there somewhere else I should be looking? I have an appointment to take it in next week to the shop but I'm trying to see if there is anything I can do before that time.
Thanks
