Tuesday night about 10, I got some real bad stomach cramps. Really some very unbearable pain. Took my Prilosec OTC, drank half bottle of Mallox, and a hand full of Tums. NO relief what so ever. I got very little sleep. Got up Wednesday morning, got ready and went to work at 5am. I still felt bad with lots of pain in my lower gut. I made a few service calls and thought that maybe the pain would let up. By 8 in the morning, I called my boss and told him what was going on and that I was on my way to the emergency room.
I called my wife (which works in the ER) to let her know I was on my way. Got checked in by 8:30 and went through some tests. By 9:30 they were prepping me for surgery. It turns out that my appendix was on the verge of bursting. Spent my first night ever in a hospital. (Pretty good for being in my 50's now)
I finally got released and now at home. Very sore to say the least. My boss is not very happy since I cannot work for a week. Then I'll be on a very light duty for another 4 weeks. In my job, there isn't any such thing as light duty. My tool tote alone weighs 35lbs! and I'm not to lift over 10 lbs. Its going to be very interesting to say the least.
Doc told me that I was very lucky in going to the ER when I did. If I had waited another couple of hours, I would probably still be in the hospital or dead. Boy that makes me feel a whole lot better.
So I guess I will be padding my posts a bit more than usual in the next week or so
