Re: A New Member and a Classic Grady
Oh wow. Yeah that is intense. Here in the US. they have a 5 year degree, its still a bacelors but allegidly is looked upon as a masters. Confusing and kind of doesnt make sense i know. However, Once graduated with a 5 year degree, you must work 3 years in the field full time hours before you can become a registered architect in new york state. If you get a 4 year degree, you have to work in the field for 5.
I wish him luck, architecture is one of those things where its a big misconception that it is a Money making profession, its not. Money CAN be made just as any, but its not like you become an architect........your making crazy money. Otherwise, i wouldnt be here in this thread talking about my 1974 Grady White that will most likely be undergoing a FULL restoration soon ( hopefully minus the transom as i dont want to mess with it).
Anyways, My next question. If i was to split the top of the boat off the bottom when i DO decide to start this whole project......How would i do it? would the top of the cabin and everything all come off in one piece? this sounds like a really scary thing to do to be honest lol. Also,
i would have to do the whole job on weekends only, and completely outside about 200 yards from the Long island sound ( Infront of a beach house). Not sure how all of it will be feasable...........but i want to keep this boat forever, and keep it in the family so i know its something that will need to be done. To be honest, im still quite confused on the boat...........how the allegid "self bailing deck" works. Why the ONLY place i could see to put a bilge would be in the very back, where i see a few wells just before the transom. Im confused where the original gas tank was, where the fresh water holding tank was. I wish i could find someone on here with a VERY original one like mine so i could answer some of these questions.
Thanks again guys for all of the input. Im loving this forum so far!
