No, I am a lawyer.
My elder son is an intern architect and he is 27.
In Canada, a Master's degree is required.
He has about 7 years of university and has been working with a firm for the past couple of years.
It will be at least another couple of years before he qualifies as an architect.

Oh wow. Yeah that is intense. Here in the US. they have a 5 year degree, its still a bacelors but allegidly is looked upon as a masters. Confusing and kind of doesnt make sense i know. However, Once graduated with a 5 year degree, you must work 3 years in the field full time hours before you can become a registered architect in new york state. If you get a 4 year degree, you have to work in the field for 5.
I wish him luck, architecture is one of those things where its a big misconception that it is a Money making profession, its not. Money CAN be made just as any, but its not like you become an architect........your making crazy money. Otherwise, i wouldnt be here in this thread talking about my 1974 Grady White that will most likely be undergoing a FULL restoration soon ( hopefully minus the transom as i dont want to mess with it).

Anyways, My next question. If i was to split the top of the boat off the bottom when i DO decide to start this whole project......How would i do it? would the top of the cabin and everything all come off in one piece? this sounds like a really scary thing to do to be honest lol. Also,
i would have to do the whole job on weekends only, and completely outside about 200 yards from the Long island sound ( Infront of a beach house). Not sure how all of it will be feasable...........but i want to keep this boat forever, and keep it in the family so i know its something that will need to be done. To be honest, im still quite confused on the boat...........how the allegid "self bailing deck" works. Why the ONLY place i could see to put a bilge would be in the very back, where i see a few wells just before the transom. Im confused where the original gas tank was, where the fresh water holding tank was. I wish i could find someone on here with a VERY original one like mine so i could answer some of these questions.

Thanks again guys for all of the input. Im loving this forum so far!

Wow be careful of the neighbors. They might be PO'd if they are out on their porch minden their own business and you are blowing fiberglass dust at em!! LOL

LOL those people are only there seasonally.........On the OTHER side, they live there year round. I doubt it would be a problem. Their a swanky group though and i just gave them a nice new eye-sore lol. But to heck with it. Its such a perfect spot for the boat it literally fits PERFECTLY. i need to get it a little further back next time but thats about it.

Thankyou! Im hoping that things are somewhat okay for now and i can enjoy the boat a little bit before diving head deep into a MASSIVE project that im afraid i dont have all the resources for right now. Eventually what i REALLY want is to build some type of custom hard top / small open sided pilot house / I dont knoW!! lol. I will get to it, just not sure when exactly yet. Things are kind of up in the air right now.

For now, I will be going out to where the boat is kept sunday...........i purchased a mess of good cleaning supplies. I will be cleaning the entire hull back to sparkling white, Buffing out and waxing the hull and the upper portion of the boat. Im hoping it brings that gorgeous Teal color back to life...........Scrubbing all the inside with a special vinyl cleaner i got. Bleaching the floor.......etc.

Cant wait to get started!!
