Re: A Starcraft video
If I was more computer savoy the profile I just made would be full of pictures of that boat from the start of the project to what it is now. My Father and I have been in the aluminum boat biz for over 20 years and let me say that chieftain can handle every bit of stress that the 175 can throw at it, and no it is not impossible for that hull to reach that speed. No thanks to the completely over killed structural rebuild that we gave her. Including a 5'' taller transom with 100 thous. splash pan/transom brace , 1/2'' backing plate , 1/4'' x 2 1/2'' angle running the full length of the transom , extended transom to hull braces , 42'' dia. cuddy wall/doorway wall(essentially one giant brace), and so fourth. Way to much to type hopefully will figure how to load pics on my profile, any help would be appreciated. In those video's we were in the mid 50's but with the bigger carb's , upgrade reed valves and fresh from the "prop shop" 14 1/4'' x24p turbo two propeller , it gps'd at 67 mph with myself and brother. I don't care if you guys think I'm full of ****. I will post a GPS pic when I run it this spring. Bye the way after gutting that boat of 1960's luxury's and plywood , the hull without the engine , fuel or batteries weighed under 750 lbs. About 15 lbs of that was just rivets we added to ribs and sister keels. I swear I will back up every one of these claims.
