A surprising Customer Service response

The wife and I have been shopping for over a few months for a new electric kitchen range. We decided on a model via research however, we really want to "kick the tires" on the model we want. We have spent hours on the phone and every time we have been in a town we have visited the appliance stores. I could not see spending money on a major appliance without seeing it in person first.

This past Friday while we were shopping at HD we asked if they were ever going to get this range in so we could see one in person. The salesperson said the control on what is stocked is not done at the store level and doubted our model would ever come in. He recommended that we email the CEO of HD.

Last night I did exactly that and emailed the CEO. This afternoon I received a call and I should have a definitive answer by Wednesday.

The response time was incredible and considering this is a holiday weekend too!

Time will tell but I was pleased by the call.

Customer service is what it is all about.

It's amazing what you can get if you simply ask nicely.

My brother was having constant issues with his new boat...he now has a direct line with the VP of Rinker's cell phone.

The squeaky wheel oft does get the grease.

On the other hand Bob, what is with the 'electric' range top? Electric Sucks!! Gas Rules!

If he's like me, the closet gas pipe is 20 miles away.

Not sure I'd want gas if I could get it. Don't want to end up on the evening news.

I am in an all electric neighborhood. I hated cooking on an electric top. I went and got a 25 gallon propane tank and placed in on the side of the house, under the eaves.

I then ran one 75 foot piece of flexible stainless steel gas pipe from the outside of the foundation, right up thru the floor to a gas cooktop. The cooktop came with a spare set of jets for using propane. While we were still a family of 4, that 25 gallon tank lasted about 14 months. Now with just the two of us it looks like it will last at least 20 months. And we do cook regularly.

No more cooked burner connectors and when you turn the gas up it heats and when you turn it down, it truly simmers. No more going back to find the supposedly simmering chili burning in the bottom of the pot!

You have to work really hard to blow yourself up with NatGas. Yes it happens, but the events that need to precede it are many. Doesn't sound like a guy who supplies rational replies to many posts . . . ;) If you did the math you'd realize you're in the realm of struck by lightning. Damn Ben Franklin for inventing that scourge on society

I absolutely will not buy any appliances at Home Depot. They have their display model with a price on it. They don't actually have any of them at the store. However, they will happily order one for you for an additional price. That's bait and switch as far as I'm concerned.

LOL Natural Gas !!!

Natural Gas

Vermont has one natural gas distribution company,Vermont Gas Systems, Inc. (VGS). VGS serves approximately 35,000 customers in Chittenden and Franklin Counties and continues to increase its customer base and gas sales by about 3% to 4% per year.

VGS's gas is supplied from a connection at Highgate Springs to the TransCanada Pipeline.

Go ahead and google West Rutland VT and see how far away I am from the pipeline!!
 About 2 1/2 hrs by car!!

Yes, I would like Propane however, the propane line must be installed by a Vermont CETP propane person and the cost of propane is not that great here. The investment in the plumbing, tank and fuel delivery is not worth the trouble.

If I want to cook with propane I have a huge Vermont Castings grill which is perfect.

Just as an update....... The oven will be here this week for our inspection. I have to say they have been very accommodating. My wife and I purchased out LG front loader washer and dryer there with excellent pricing and service. No bait and switch however Sears tried that game and we declined.

Funny! A little less than a year ago we bought a Maytag Washer and Dryer from them. They had them in stock, at a very good price and gave us 12 mo's financing, interest free!

FWIW, I've bought 4 large appliances at HD, all of which were in stock even at the end of a week long excellent sale. I've had nothing but FANTASTIC service at HD for appliances, and always go back to them

Im pretty impressed it last that long! Also we have Natural Gas here in N/W Pa Yes there are some time where there are explosions, but that is usually consumer fault, example: Old leaking pipe fittings.

I Understand sometimes people just cant get gas, but look at the bright side, an electric oven is wonderful for baking, where some prefer a gas cook top.

I hope you like your new Stove Bob, Maybe a Quick Pic!!:) Also is HD installing or are you rounding up a posse to help get it in the house?
