That's exactly why I didn't call the cops. He knew he was in the wrong. He had admitted it was his fault. If the cops showed up they might have flipped it on me.

My guess is that his insurance was expired.

Well, in the old days the driver at fault could usually accept the fact he was at fault. And arrange for retribution without getting the 'authorities' and/or insurance companies involved. What "No Fault Insurance" really means is that both parties wind up paying higher premiums. It's a percentage game. Even if you were blindsided by someone, the rules are yer both gonna pay.

Kinda like gettin into a fight with some drunk in a bar who didn't like the way you looked. Nowadays you're both goin to jail. The Judge'll sort things out. Hopefully you'll get yer bail money back.

Personally I'd try to forget the incident.

As far as a police report, in MI anyway, we wouldn't take a police report on this crash. We only take reports on crashes that occur on the roadway. In this instance you did the right thing. Exchange information, pictures, and witnesses. Contact your insurance company and let them fight it out.

We would only police this accident if it was a hit and run, an injury was received, or the other driver was drunk. Again, this is Michigan law....

No, but he was trying to get his car unstuck from my outdrive. Had he remained in one spot I could have pulled forward and he would have a small dent to deal with vs the gash. As soon as I felt him trying to free himself I drove forward to minimize damage.

Thanks for your opinion all. The oil level and color look good. I think my prop took the worst of it. I won't call him and stir things up unless I find any more damage.

This is exactly what I was thinking.

uh guys I think I need to clarify something, typically the Police/Sheriff/LEO generalize they do not do reports in parking lots because a HUGE majority of parking lots are private property and therefore this is a civil issue, HOWEVER if this ramp is owned by the state then I would bet the parking lot for the ramp is as well, so please check before you decide not to file a report.
