I have a 1984 Bayliner Capri with a galvanized trailer. The trailer does not have a rear support brace. I would like to add one so I can install a tansom saver (engine de-flopperizer). I don't really care if the transom can hold the weight or not, I don't like it shaking around when I am on bumpy roads, cannot be good, lots of washboard-y gravel roads where I live (please do not comment on the necessity of a transom saver or not, I have heard the arguement over and over
). I was going to attach a v shaped brace at the rear of the trailer. Can anyone comment about the ability to launch and load with such a brace added on. I don't power load, pull boat on by hand or winch it up. The grade of my boat ramp is about 15 degrees or so (just a guess). As the boat approaches when loading the rear of the trailer is lower and the boat slides up on the fixed rails that go all the way the the rear anyway. I have heard yes and no, yet haven't heard from anyone who has installed a rear brace. Obviously, it would have to be installed so it didn't hang too low to hit the road and not too high to hit the underside of the boat. I would like to weld it on, rather than bolt it on. Thanks in advance. Eric
