I recently rebuilt carbs and replaced the water pump impeller. Model J90TSLECM
When I did the linkage after dropping the lower unit, I’m pretty sure I left it in neutral. Does the red circle looks about where it should be? I tweaked the upper thumbscrew, but afterwards remembered you probably shouldn’t adjust that?
Is there a guide on the forums for adjusting the carbs linkages?
Thanks

Did you check / set shift rod height ?
The prop spins freely in both directions when it’s in neutral. In the drive it locks up, in reverse it only spins one way. Is that how it’s supposed to be?

Shift rod height MUST be set to a specific dimension.-----Then when lower unit is installed the " thumbscrew " ( trunnion ) can be adjusted.-----So in forward gear can you turn the prop clockwise but not counterclockwise ??

I added the pic of the lower unit. I did not change the rod height after replacing the impeller
