Re: Aerial Airborne Wakeboard Tower
I took the boat out sunday fishing, just to test the stress on the hull with the tower. When I crossed semi large wakes, the tower shook a bit. I will be fiberglassing over the wood backing and back washer (i'll be sure to tape over the leg nuts!). This should dramatically reduce the stress on the hull. I mean I may just be over reacting but better safe than sorry.. Also after done glassing im going to take off the tower and re-adjust it a bit more, which will make it pretty darn stable. I love the look of this tower on my bayliner! Now all I need is an ESP, but custom molded with a $1500 price, ill wait a few months!
Oh and a stupid drunk friend was leaning on the tower, almost socked him in the face for that.
As far as the wires go, I spent hours online looking at other's installs. Does anyone know if theres any chrome plastic tubing I can buy, like 1/2" ID, and chrome hardware (like the plastic tubing inserts found at home depot in the plumbing section) that can be screwed into the tower tubing and fiberglass on the boat??? I really don't want to electric tape all my wires together and just have them hanging out of the holes. I plan on using the nav light, installing four speakers on the tower, and a light bar in the near future for late night fishing!!
I am starting my install today

I will post pics of the progress as it moves along. What brand of epoxy did you use?
I used high strength liquid nails in the tube for my wood backing. I've been in the construction field for years and have had no problems using this adhesive. I will also be fiberglassing over it all so surely no problems there!
Haven't had times to take pics, might make a video as well and post on you tube this weekend. I'll keep everyone updated! Thanks!
