Re: AeroCraft York 1960ish Transom, Stringers, Deck

From the description, it sounds like a good choice, but I am no expert in wood...AC, means one really nice smooth sanded face, and the other not no much...exterior grade implies the use of waterproof glue to join the laminates, and the thickness is pretty standard for the equivalent 3/4 plywood...

Thanks Gus! I think I am going to go ahead with it unless someone chimes in with good reasons not to. :joyous:

AC is fine. It will have a few more voids so make sure to fill any you find on the edges etc...

Yesterday i rough cut the rear deck and set it in place, so I could locate the sump for the bilge pump.

I still have still have a great deal of glassing to do. Like grinding the bubbles out of the first layer of 1708 on the transom, and put a second 1708 layer on. And do the final steps to the stringers. I wanted to get the deck ply roughed in so when it's time to glass I will have it all ready to go.

today I did some grinding on the transom to get the bubbles out of the first 1708, so I can Put down a layer of CSM and then the second 1708.
big bubble!

I also cut out the center stringer to make room for the bilge.

today I put a layer of 1.5oz CSM on the bottom of the deck. The deck was first wetted out with resin so the wood could soak it up.

Next the CSM was wetted out. With the four sections of deck one layer of CSM was nearly 5 yards, and a gallon and a quart of 435 poly resin.
