Got some freight today, 15 yards 1.5oz CSM. Cut out a full transom layer of CSM and 1708 to finish it off. Then the rain clouds came in, so maybe tomorrow we can wrap that up. :facepalm:

Happy 4th Y'all :watermelon::drunk::drunk:

Well, I'd say you could give instructions on how to lay glass!!!! I've not seen to many transoms that are any better than the glass work on yours. Very nice!!!

Tree is doing great ! Plenty of new growth .. I really needed a good shade tree in that part of the yard . The morning to noon sun really heats up the kitchen . Glad I saved it from the dumpster !
BTW , You have flat gotten the hang of this glassing thing . Keep up the great work ! :high5:

I have a question, if a put a bead of PL on top of the stingers while installing the deck should I still wait three days before PBing the edges of the decking?

Thanks for input!

No need to wait to fillet the deck to hull, BUT you'll want to screw the deck down to the stringers really well. Or plan to leave the deck weights in place for 72+hrs. Under the deck the PL on top of the stringers won't be exposed to much (if any) airflow. So 72hrs would be my MINIMUM wait time, more would be better.

That's the reason I have stopped recommending PL as an good alternative to PB, too much time waiting for it to cure. If asked, I will say it's an alternative, but PB is a much better choice for many reasons.

I will be screwing the deck down, but I want to be clear that the PB fillets won't be bothered by the gassing off of the PL on the stringer to deck joints?

Re: AeroCraft York 1960ish Transom, Stringers, Deck

Is below deck 100% sealed once you PB that joint? If there's openings for water to flow back to an open bilge, then below decks will have airflow, very little, but airflow. If it's 100% sealed, foam &/or no openings to the bilge, there won't be any airflow. 100% sealed may delay even further the PL cure.

The PB shouldn't delam from the off-gassing if the bilge isn't sealed. Directly in contact w/ uncured PL is generally what causes the off-gassing to adversely affect the poly resin/PB. But if it's 100% sealed, it may delay the PL cure.

Thanks a bundle JB!! I think the direct contact between PL and PB causes issues, but I wasn't sure, I think I'll be good.
