Smart idea on the access panel...wish I'd have thought of that with my old red truck..had to pull the bed three times on it to replace the fuel pump...

Today I installed the hatch, that I welded tabs on, and painted, with four self taping screws. I still need to lay a bead of silicone down on the joint. Then I will reinstall my bed liner and no one will ever know, except you people.

Nice patch job! Like you said, once the bedliner is in, only us Iboaters will know...and I'll never tell...;)

Hope everyone is enjoying their Christmas!!! I was able to get on the donor glasser. I am working towards getting the Outboard on a stand in the garage. I built a stand last week per another Iboats members specs, and was happy with it so far.

In order to get the motor on the satnd I need to unhook all the oil, fuel, electric, throttle and shift cables, steering cables. Since the lower unit is a basket case and it's unknown if the engine really runs, I will not spend any money on parts until it's on the stand and fires up.

Today I pulled the concealed control box and I cut out the dash in order to keep the wire harness intact. I am having trouble unhooking the morse steering cable! Gotta figure that one out yet!

Nice work Sbb . I wish I had an engine hoist . Sure would come in handy .
Can you try and fire the motor up without the foot installed . I.m lost when it comes to mechanical stuff...

Thanks SP, with the gear case off the water pipe just hangs down. I will clamp a piece of rubber hose to it and adapt that to the garden hose. I wouldn't even do that if I was to just to fire it momentarily, but I need to run it for a bit to see if "MURPHY" shows up. PO said it runs, but who knows!!:noidea:

I was able to get the engine stand shored up. I added an extra king stud plus bolted them all together. I also added some plywood gussets to the sides, and four casters below. This is a very strong setup now.
