Hi - looking for the timken bearing number for the 1-3/4 OD drive gear used in the upper, (im presuming both use the 386a race). fwiw the 1-7/8 bearing number is 386A - i ordered a 24/24 gear set for an alpha 2 part # Sierra 18-6350 (cant read drive sn)- but the ID of the new gear is 1-3/4 and the bearings are 1-7/8, so trying to see if I can swap the 2 bearings to match the new gear set?

This item
matches my new drive gear number and the bearing number is 25580 - not sure if that bearing is compatible with the 386a race? or if i need the matching race as well - it uses the housing style- im trying to cross a bridge here :/

Thanks

I'm afraid it's a bridge too far. The earlier Gen II housing and the later Gen II housing is quite different in that area. You need the correct gear set for the housing you have.

Early housing (Up to serial number 0K999999):
1.62:1 Gear set (24/24) - 43-45814A5
Bearing kit - 31-35988A12 (Timken 382A & 368A. 2 of each required)

Later housing (from serial number 0L100040):
1.62:1 Gear set (24/24) - 43-853640A2
Bearing kit - 31-30894A5 (Timken set 25580/20R. 2 required)

I don't have the Sierra numbers for the gear sets, as I refuse to use anything GLM or Sierra.

Chris....
(EDIT: But I did look it up. The Sierra part is 18-2203)

Also looked up the bearing dimensions.

Early bearing: (386A/382A)

Later bearing: (25580/20R)

As you can see, quite different.

awesome chris thanks- I found a NOS drive gear matching the one I took off 20 miles away for 50 bucks and snagged it-

I was hoping there was a bearing matching the 382A race with an ID of 1-3/4 :) that would work..

fyi: (Timken 382A & 368A. 2 of each required) - should be 386A :) up in post #2

aha - nigh impossible to find but I guess it could have worked -

Paired with race:

TRB-TS | 386AS - 382A

Bearing itself:
Timken 386AS -

same race and width with a 1-3/4 ID
