Re: Aluminum Boat Rebuild Methods by 191Seanymphstriper
I don't think it's possible to build a boat that would handle the center of gravity with a head that swollen, or ego that obese.
I'll sure be glad when you stop dancing on your pedestal and start posting some 'during progress' pictures and text of your supposedly outstanding workmanship...respect is earned not garnered from self proclamation...sheesh, to read this one would think every boat manufacturer would be knocking down your door to hire you.
These posts reminds me of some of the far fetched listings on craigslist...Juuuust a little *TLC needed {*Total Lying Commitment}.
Just a little constructive criticism from my personal observations! Nothing personal
Tommy I see more and more tinnys when I go out on the water. Alot more then I have seen in 5 years! I go out of freeport on the southshore. Where do you boat? I think aluminum boats are making a come back. People are looking for a affordable clean nice looking cc that is easy to tow because alot of people traded in those big V8's for mid size V6 suv's etc....
And to Hope....Ok well first i would just like to say that I live in LONG ISLAND NEW YORK! One of the 5 most expencive places to live in the world! Look it up! So people here have money and spend it! Of course just like anywhere else some people have more then others and we are in a recesion. But I did get a great response. Why dont you post up your tinny in LONG ISLAND NEW YORK ON CL and see what kind of responce you get! And I hope its a cc because thats what people really like around these parts.
As far as far fetched storys I have posted 2 of my boats finished etc and I think they turned out great!
Also when i said if they built them the way I build them I mean without using wood. Its not that hard to understand that it stinks ripping a boat apart to change all the wood! Also they used paint on the inner hull and that stinks because down the road its all banged up from fishing etc. And bed liner. Made for people who work and throw stuff in the back of there pick ups etc and it holds up very well. Alot longer then any paint ever could, and comes with a lifetime warrenty! So I'm not to sure but a lifetime of a 80 year old seams long enough for me! And that is also better then what the manuf did in the 80's so I think I have some valid points here!
And I just don't know what it is with people trying to put me down knock me down and putting there 2cent neg comment posts up. Must be one of the 4 devils...
Because if you sit back and think about what im saying it makes perfectly good sence to not re-use wood in these boats. And if your going to repaint the inner hull just know that somwhere down the road the boat will need to be repainted and will look bad again and if leaks occur etc you are looking at bringing up that wood floor again etcs so she may need to come apart again. And if you use star board you would just pop out some flush stainless screws and make a repair then put it togeather. Wood rivits soggy wood it may fall aprt and you may need to recut more wood etc carpet glue etc.... Now i do a nice thick coat of gluvit then ryno liner and if the boat ever leaks after that somthing is majorly wrong. If the manuf built them the way I rebuild them people wouldnt be needing to make all these repairs. Prob just paint work trim work. And more money would be in our pockets for newer motors and or more trips out and more fish in the boat!
And if I where manufacturer of aluminum boats today. I would never build one with wood ever. ( well maybe some nice teak trim work or somthing. But deff not the flooring or transom.
And just because I don't rebuild them the traditional way dosent mean you should be so neg...
But thats your opinion so thanks for your input...
As far as respect. I really don't care about what people think of me on this forum. Its in my everyday life family friends etc that I care about.
I will be doing a tear down very soon. And I am new to these forums so I wish I would have documented my other rebuilds better but I diddnt. Mostly because I diddnt have anyone to show or inpress etc and still dont.
But what I do like is helping others by giving good sound advice and showing them how I rebuild my aluminum boats so they open up there options and can build a better longer lasting boat in the long run if they want to go this route!
So sry you think I have a swollen head! ,,,,,,
A tommy i caught 28 fluke today and only 1 24 inch keeper fluke today yippy.I threw it back I can't feed the family with just 1....... I cant wait till the water temp drops, And I caught a couple of cocktail blues NO STRIPERS
