Sold the old boat, and bought an older and smaller boat a few weeks ago.
Its a 1977 Alumacraft Lunker 16' with console and a 35 Evinrude.
Today was the 3rd time I took it out.
Put on a new prop, and a trolling motor, so I had to try them out.
I added about 120# to the bow of the boat with the batteries, case, and charger.
Well, it ran smoother with the added weight, but the water was pretty calm anyways.
The troller is a transom mount 65# thrust 24v Minn Kota.
It was fast enough to leave a wake !
And slow enough to hold position against a 1 mph breeze, and vertical jig.
The old prop blew out in any more than a slight turn, at 3/4 throttle or above.
The new prop never blew out at all, even at WOT and in a tight turn.
The boat carves a turn like grandma putting ripples in cake icing.
The water was a mere 6 inches from gunnel at the helm and it just kept digging.
Holeshot? What hole?
The boat just accelerates.
Not gonna whip your head back, but the boat just lifts itself straight up onto plane.
I felt like I was driving sangerwaker's boat. Not as fast, but it just shoots forward and is on plane.
Feeling pretty good about the boat.
BTW, where is sangerwaker?
Or the rest of the crew from the WI get together?
The boat only weighs 380# empty, and is rated for 65hp !!
Hmmm, I wonder.
Anybody have a 55 or 60 that they'll let me borrow for a week?
