Well let me start this thread by saying I am glad I found this site! I had found little information on MFG when I bought my boat a couple of years ago and I just happened to stumble upon this site today. It is nice to see there are still so many MFG boats still out there!

Now an introduction to my boat. I bought this 1959 MFG Celoron on "that auction site" a couple of years ago. It was love at first sight, but I almost didn't buy it since I thought it was a wooden boat (bad experience with a rotten wooden lapstrake boat). I am the third owner of this MFG and it has been garage kept since new. It's still sporting it's original fiberglass finish (almost looks like they forgot to use gel coat). It has beautifully maintained mahogany deck, seats and transom. The original glass Taylor Made windshield is on it and I also have the original Taylor Made bimini top. My boat also has it's original seat cushions/flotation devices. I also have the boat's original 1959 Gator trailer, but the motor has been replaced with a mint condition 1968 or 1969 Johnson 40 hp motor. This boat has a couple of rare options, it has a working speedometer and a working remote spot light. The original owner even had a custom fitted vinyl cover made for it. All in all it is in fantastic shape, but unfortunately I have not had it in the water yet! I bought it knowing I need to have the carb rebuilt and the lower unit resealed. It's usable as is, but I'd rather not take my chance. I plan on making it ready for next spring and summer since my two boys are getting old enough to enjoy the boat without needing someone to hold onto them.

Well, thanks for letting me rant and enjoy some pictures.

Thanks,
Adam

Love the steering wheel! But who keeps Rustoleum on a shelf under their bow in a beauty like this! :) JK Nice looking boat, I'd never trade it away. Keep it and buy another boat if you need something more than this. Not everyone can own something so nice. And classic!

Funny you should notice the paint. That's the leftover paint from when the previous owner painted the trailer. I recently moved the winch mount and need to touch up the paint. I couldn't find the paint anywhere...until I saw the pictures!

HI I am new to this sight and love the pictures thanks. Your boat looks identicle to one I recently accuired exept mine is just the hull. If at all possible it would realy help if you could post some more pics that i could use as reference as I rebuild mine. One thing that would realy help would be pics of the transom and how it is supported to the hull and floor. Anything would help as I said mine is just the hull. Theank you and enjoy your beautiful MFG.

Amsvette

I feel very lucky I am acquiring a 1959 MFG boat from my wife's uncle. We get to go pick it up after memorial day. If I'm not mistaken he bought the boat new. It looks just like the 1 you have pictured and also has a bimini top. I too fell in love with this boat the first time I saw it almost 5 years ago.

I will post more later with some pictures. I'm going to get back to reading this forum.
