Well let me start this thread by saying I am glad I found this site! I had found little information on MFG when I bought my boat a couple of years ago and I just happened to stumble upon this site today. It is nice to see there are still so many MFG boats still out there!
Now an introduction to my boat. I bought this 1959 MFG Celoron on "that auction site" a couple of years ago. It was love at first sight, but I almost didn't buy it since I thought it was a wooden boat (bad experience with a rotten wooden lapstrake boat). I am the third owner of this MFG and it has been garage kept since new. It's still sporting it's original fiberglass finish (almost looks like they forgot to use gel coat). It has beautifully maintained mahogany deck, seats and transom. The original glass Taylor Made windshield is on it and I also have the original Taylor Made bimini top. My boat also has it's original seat cushions/flotation devices. I also have the boat's original 1959 Gator trailer, but the motor has been replaced with a mint condition 1968 or 1969 Johnson 40 hp motor. This boat has a couple of rare options, it has a working speedometer and a working remote spot light. The original owner even had a custom fitted vinyl cover made for it. All in all it is in fantastic shape, but unfortunately I have not had it in the water yet! I bought it knowing I need to have the carb rebuilt and the lower unit resealed. It's usable as is, but I'd rather not take my chance. I plan on making it ready for next spring and summer since my two boys are getting old enough to enjoy the boat without needing someone to hold onto them.
Well, thanks for letting me rant and enjoy some pictures.
Thanks,
Adam
